LMT upper on a Stag10 lower?

Alternatively I guess you could change out the take down pins in your Stag 10 lower.

Bingo! Either replace the Stag Rear Takedown Pin with the LMT version, or better (and easier), just sand the circumference of the Stag Pin down a few thousands of an inch and reinstall. The slightly smaller Stag Rear Takedown Pin will not adversely affect the fit and function of your reassembled Stag rifle.

Good suggestion. I will likely buy a second lower and do just that. I hate having to sand (emery paper?) the pins but in this case it's a worthwhile sacrifice!

Just chuck the Stag Rear Pin in a drill and have at 'er with a wrap of emery cloth or even regular sandpaper.... Easy-Peasey instructions direct from the Wile E. Coyote School of Gunsmithing!

The Lmt uppers are monolithic and accept Lmt barrels that are quick change so if you want those features. I think an upper is 1000 usd and a barrel 600 usd. I'd put Lmt a notch above stag in terms of high endness.

As Dr. Hunter pointed out LMT isn't a cost saving method. It's only financially feasible if you already own the LMT MWS. Otherwise it's much cheaper to built off the stag upper. Really this is only a way for those of us with LMT 308 rifles to use them as non restricted.

Thanks guys. Very informative.

I'd be careful saying that they fit on the forum, easy way for the RCMP lab to call it a variant and change the Stag 10 to restricted.

Especially if someone puts a 16 inch upper on and gets caught with it.
And you know damn well there will be someone that does it and F's it up for everyone.

And no, it's not even legal to do it at the range with a shorter barrel. The second the upper with a barrel less than 18.5 inch is installed you have an unregistered restricted rifle which will get you in all kinds of trouble if you get caught.

I'll go one step further and say it is only financially feasible if one own's an MWS with a 18.5" plus length barrel already. Building a complete upper for the Stag is cheaper than just buying an appropriately length MWS barrel

True. I have a 20" SS on mine.

If someone does that then they risk charges. That's on them. I don't plan on letting that dictate anything to me. I'm responsible for my actions only.

The reality is if the Liberals get in again then all semi autos will be banned. Regardless of current status. We can thank the SNC scandal that this hasn't happened yet.

I'm in no way saying not to use your LMT upper if it has an 18.5+ inch barrel, just that I wouldn't be posting about it on a public forum that is read by the RCMP.
I thought that one of the criteria for getting the NR status is that the receivers are not compatible with the restricted models.
If they know you can take the upper from a restricted rifle and put it on a NR lower it may be enough to look at changing the classification.

We all know it's stupid and just paper that makes any difference between the different rifles in the real world but it's the narrow minded silly RCMP lab that gets the say in how they are sorted out in their classifications. We have no common sense voice and unfortunately just have to play along with whatever crack-head decision they make.

^^^ As was said above. You ever heard of PMing a question? This reminds me of the (how many fit in the Rem VM) question that keeps coming up on another forum.
Give your head shake man.

One of my customers has in writing from the RCMP permission to use a LMT upper on his STAG lower.

They already know

Mine doesn't work. The rear takedown pin appears to be a tiny bit too wide. It's so close but it's a no go with the Stag 10 lower I have. I ran into the same thing only with the front take down pins when trying my AR10B uppers on the Stag 10 lower. Again so close.

If you happen to get one that works then you are in luck. Alternatively I guess you could change out the take down pins in your Stag 10 lower.

Some time back I measured the pins and pin hole sizes on my KAC and STAG and indeed they are different by few thou but they fit in my case.

I have not measured the LMT specifically but I assume they would be same as the KAC since they are both m110 pattern.
