New to pellet rifles - looking for advice

So, with a budget of, say, $C 500-ish, what am I looking for?? PCP or springer or ??? .177 or .22 or ??? Brand and models, please, and why you recommend that. My dollar limit is flexible, within reason.
Thanks for your time to reply.

If you're willing to save a bit more $$$

Before thinking I've lost my mind suggesting any of the$e... hear my rational.
- To me, airguns get the most trigger time. As much as I'd like to be able to get to the range every other day... it's not going to happen. On the other end, sneaking a 15-30minutes plinking sessions every other day... Yup, it can be done.
- H&N Sport @ $7.50/500 is as cheap as it gets... and pretty much just as accurate as the Match stuff.
- When you add the cost of the rifle + the cost of the pellets, divided by the number of shots per year... Even the Steyr comes out cheaper per hole than most 22lr
- Buy once, cry once!

Where do you get these pellets?

Thought I would resurrect this old thread - just made arrangements for a Avanti 853c - apparently specifically designed as 10 meter target rifle for Canadian Cadets. Front and rear aperture sights, target shooting sling, LOP blocks, single shot and 5 shot loading trays. Lots of internet stuff on mods, trigger tuning, etc, as apparently the 853 is also promoted by US CMP for their youth programs. Just hoping my 64 year old eyes can hold out for another winter or two!! Really looking forward to punching holes in targets in my garage!

It can be hard to find but the Baikal MP-61 rifle is actually quite nice. It's a side cocking gun that has a 5 round mag. The stock is adjustable for LOP, and the trigger can also be somewhat adusted. It's easy to fit a William peep sight on the gun to shoot it better. It's not a very powerful gun, but for shooting at 10m, it's quite nice.

I have 3 weihrauchs ,2 Diana’s, and 1 Slavia. My favourite is my Weihrauch 30s. Light, will take out a squirrel if needed. For general plinking or targets this is my go to rifle.

I'm a fan of Diana's. Well made and imho better looking than hw's :)

Also a fan. After trying a bunch, I find my Diana 54 does it for me and has for a bunch of years now.. There's probably a reason they call it the Air King. Reaches out a whacks crows, magpies, gophers, etc at a fair ways out. Also has the advantage of being recoiless. Tried a bunch of high end pellets, but mine loves the in-expensive Crossman Premier's. Side-cocker as well, which I prefer. That being said, I'm not a die hard air-gunner, I'm a rifleman.
