Opinion time folks.

I have this rifle offered to me as part of a trade and I need to know a price range.

I've requested more pics (other side, bore, bolt face) so at this point it's all I have to go on. Assuming proper function what kind of value are we looking at.

Thanks.

and for you 700 pros, does configuration hint at year of manufacture?

Please post your responses in the thread for everyone's benefit. PM's don't make for a good group discussion.
Thanks.
*and no, I don't have any other information at this time.
700 Remington in 6mm and the picture is what "we" have to work with.

It's a 700 BDL.

Condition is important... bolt face, bore, rust?

I would pay $400 because a used action is worth that... plus the rest... as a shooter it should sell for 5 or $600 anyway.

Thanks gt. That's why I requested pics of the bore and bolt face. (I'll post them here when I get them) If they pass then I'll make arrangements to see it in person. I was looking for a 22-250 on trade when this was offered so it has to be very good or better to be considered. I do have 6mm dies though...

The 6mm is not all that common I have a classic model that puts 60gr Sierras into a 1/4 inch it also handles 100 gr deer loads well. That recoil pad is a add on and with those sights I think late eighty to ninety manufacture. If the gun is excellent condition $600 to $700 range is not out of line. It would be a shame to break it up for the action .

In very good condition I'd agree with $600-$650 ish. The late 70s and earlier tend to go for a wee bit more I think. That one is definitely newer than that.

Thanks for the replies.

I know a couple of guys that shoot/shot 6mm. An old fella that has been running one for decades for everything, Moose and Elk included and an Uncle who was disappointed the 6mm he built would only do 1/2" groups. I was gonna buy that rifle (why I have dies/brass) but my Metric hate hadn't dissipated enough at the time.
Putting a pad on a 6mm makes no sense unless lop was an issue.

Still waiting on more pics to get a better idea of it.

I have some more pictures, but none really showing anything I asked for except this:
rDrG078.jpg

looks like it was standing in water maybe...or reworked to fit the pad.
The finish is well worn by the look of it.
So far no pics of the bolt face, bore or left side even though I've asked twice.
If this is any indication of overall condition then I'm not likely to take it unless the expected value drops...hard.

That's my uneducated opinion.

What say you folks in the 700 know?

That water line ending precisely at the sling stud tells me it had a slip on
butt pad awn'er.
I'd be more consern'd 'bout that bigg'un crackohlee behind the check'rin.

Tuff life that'oar had.

Pre Bubba buttpad makes sense...even if you don't Looky :p

He said it sarcastically. Same fella with the Cooey collector joke.

Todbartell just built something very similar. But had creedmoor stamped on the barrel.

I saw that thread, not much help in this one...pretty much like the rest of page 2 in this one.

Looking at the pics its not premo for sure . The bore condition would be my concern with the look of that stock .I personally would not pay much for that piece .
