What Magazines Are You Using in Your Stag 10

Hello,

I just had an interesting experience with Zahal. I had ordered a number of Canada compliant E-lander magazines from them. A month later they're still not here, so yesterday I emailed their customer service. This morning they wrote me back that customs does not allow magazines to be shipped out the country. Well and good, but you would think they would know this before advertising, and subsequently mailing Canada compliant magazines. Then come to the realization that customs won't allow it. I don't think I will be doing much shopping with them in the future.
That brings me to my current dilemma. What magazines are you using for your Stag 10, and where is the best place to buy them. Right off I will say I am not a big fan of polymer magazines, but I am willing to try them, based on user reviews.
The reason I don't like polymer, is based on my experience in the military. I recall that on a couple of occasions my magazines were rendered useless, because the feed lips would shear off. Especially in sub zero weather. This was going back when the C7s just came out, so maybe they have improved polymer magazines since then. Anyway I would welcome, all input. Thanks

I bought a dozen of them from Zahal earlier this year. I'll dig through my receipts to get the exact date, but they came through alright. Yes, it was a wait for them, and there was a $70 ding at the post office when I went to pick them up.

Nice mags though. Too bad to hear if they aren't shipping any more. I wonder why?

*Dec. 2018. about 4 weeks from order placement to arrival.

Yea, too bad. I was looking forward to getting the magazines. It bothers me because they charged my credit card, shipped the magazines, and only after writing them a month later, do I find out that customs won't ship Canada compliant magazines to Canada.

CPD XCR pistol mags , magpul genIII 5/10 and 5/20's all work great but I had to swap out my factory mag release for an ambi unit to solve bolt hold open with the pmags and I could pull the xcr mags out by hand. A random spare ambi mag release fixed both issues (brand unknown)

Yeah I had to pull the side of the mag out a bit on xcr mags to get them to catch the mag retainer. Also the bolt does contact the mag lips, not sure if I'm ok with this...

Is this common, problem? The mag that came with my rifle functions just fine. I hope that if I order more they will work the same. I have no idea how the XCR mags will work. I guess I'll have to order a couple to find out.

I have and LOVE Lancer L7s...only have 2 so far but they are great. They are not cheap tho.

The stock Magpul gen 3 7.62 10 rounder it came with is good too but I plan to sell it off.

I took mine out for the first time this week. I have the one magpul pmag gen3 and it was a nightmare. I found other people with the same issue and the fix is fairly easy but still a pain. Thanks YouTube!

The gist of the issue is there’s a lip from the moulding that gets caught. File it down so it doesn’t stick and it works. Haven’t tested it out yet but i’ll Keep an eye out on this post for different mags that work.

this problem popped up early in the receiver set mail out. I can't speak for others but the provided mag release in the stag lpk was the problem. Specifically the tab that engages the hole in the magazine. The tab was not fully entering the hole so it was not holding the mag firmly nor high enough to reliable activate the bolt hold open. I could have fixed the problem with a good needle file and some time but chose to dig thru my parts , remembering I received a random ambi mag release in a parts lot I got from a friend. It just happen to fit and solve my issues but comparing it to my stag lpk mag release is how I discovered the problem. As far as I know arms east addressed this early in the release and that receiver set was from the first or second batch.

Lancers all the way for me. Solves the OP’s problem in regards to the dislike of polymer mags. Poly body, steel feed lips.
