Who will be hunting with an Enfield this fall?

Hey Guys,

I am wondering who is taking their enfield on a hunt this fall? Which model, original or sporterized? What will you be hunting with it and so what kind of ammo will you be using? Is your tool scoped or will you be using iron sights?

For me, I will be taking my sporterized No. 4 Mark 1 out for some whitetail action, mounted with a 4X32mm bushnell shooting Federal 150 gr.
 
maybe take the stock #5 out. haven't shot a deer with a 303 in about 15 years. need to find out if it is still effective in this day and age.
 
I've got a bubba'd up No4 Mk1 in the mail to me right now and I'll probably bring it along on my moose hunt.

gth - there is a bubba'd No1 Mk4 on EE right now - synthetic stocks, scoped. Would likely be an excellent hunter.

.303Brit for hunting

Hi,

I don't use it anymore for hunting (too many to choose from) but did for 15yrs while deer hunting, lots of good memories. My first deer was with my fathers .303brit bought at SEARS at the time. With a 180gr bullet, it never failed me and I was able to take many deers with it, some of them 200+yds. It's a good caliber for hunting, very affordable and accurate enough. Mine does +- 1" to 1 1/2" / 100yds monted with a old tasco 3x7x32 that is not the best but did the job well enough for my hunting needs :cool:.

doing it in style

Taking My H&H conversion No4MKT out for a little whirl most likely an easy Doe hunt so as not to bash the old girl about:canadaFlag:
 
I'll be taking my No.4 Mk1 out for sure. I use 147 gr hand loads my buddy makes for me. It is sporterized with a number 1 bolt head and monte Carlo style synthetic stock and 5 round mag

[/IMG]. The scope is a Burris 1.75 - 5 fullfield and the barrel is shortened to 19 1/2 inches.

I have an untouched all matching No.4 Mk1 * Savage all matching and another Sporter No.4 Mk1 * which I'm working on, very pretty with some original aspects to it.

Hunting with Milsurps is fun !

Going for whitetail, and taking my sporterized P-14 w/ Bushell D&D 3-9x40 and using factory 180 grain Speer Hot Cor SP from Federal, 'cause I don't handload.
 
Just sold my .303 to a new hunter. Hope he has the same luck I had with it - four bucks in three years. I replaced it with a Savage 111 in .270 that I'm sighting in now.
 
My .303 will be safely nestled in my arms as I walk along in search of a deer or two. I already see the best case scenerio in my mind; I get out of the truck and slide the magazine into the rifle. I walk the two track, searching for any tracks or droppings. I get to the edge and see two deer slipping quietly along the tree row towards the pond a hundred yards away. I drop to one knee, line the sights up and let out a little whistle. The deer stop and look my way. As the trigger starts it's travel, my mind races. The report of the rifle is responded by a nice soft thump. The deer is dead on the other side of the row. I give thanks, and start the business. Then I will think that next time, I would be better to use an Ultramag instead of this old clunker. :rolleyes:
 
Sporterized 1915 No1 Mk3. Took a couple deer last year. Will take more this year.

Loaded with 150 grain Hornady interlocks over a warm, but not hot, charge.

Not me....not ever. But that's because I think that ALL Enfields and .303's shoul be burned and melted down and be made into more usefull metal and firewood. You asked....so that's my opinion. Good luck to you though, or better luck to anything that you shoot with those POS's
