Happy Friday everyone,

My main discussion point is, which do you prefer, but more importantly, why?

Personally I'm leaning towards a fixed myself, but I just prefer fixed stocks over folded. I prefer the heft, the feel, yah know?

I've been inspired to ask this because:
A. I'm trying to get my feet wet in the community; and
B. It seems more common that people want a folding but settle for the fixed (due to shortages of the former). I'm curious as to why.

I only own the folders, in my opinion it is one of the better designs with regards to actual utility when in use, as opposed to other folding designs where the function is more for ease of transport.

If you are inclined to tinker and are considering removing the buttstock to swap the fixed appears easier to convert to folding rather than vice versa.

And welcome to the community!

I agree on the fixed stock, I prefer them when shooting. Also I think the fixed stock looks better and gives it a more classic AK-ish look if you like that.

get fixed if you can!

if all you can get is a folder, proceed with caution, as most folders I've seen have bent receiver issues!

Lol no a bent receiver won’t even cycle the bolt. It’s barrel misalignment with the receiver and this topic has already been covered to death in multiple threads. It’s also not a huge deal functionally - the sights are barrel mounted so once aligned the rifle will hit where you point. But, not super cool for a thousand bux.

the last shipment has bent fixed stock too.

Yes, there are issues on fixed too,

the crazy things:

I've seen one fixed with trigger guard deformation, to the degree that won't allow you to pull the trigger. sent for warranty then resolved.

Seen a folder has deformed dust cover. resolved

Seen a folder without Lower Handguard screw. resolved.

Seen a folder has a loose pistol grip.

Seen some missing sight adjustment tools. resolved

Seen customers revisit because of the magazine pins either "fell off" or "wasn't there"

all kinds of issues occur in both shipments, TI resolved most of them

We all know what we are getting into, expectation+QC+accuracy results= I still like this rifle for what it is...(oh really? I don't care if I'm confused...LOL)

Unlucky me, I plastic surgery-ed my folder and drilled holes on the receiver for the optic plate, I had to put an angled shim to compensate the bent.

I measured the receiver, it starts to shift right past where safety is, everything prior to this point is fine.

I initially bought a fixed stock, traded it for a folder as I found the cheek weld was too high on the fixed for me to use the iron sights.

Have tried both, cheek weld is too high on the fixed. Went with the folder and it straight. Lock up is tight, more handy, nice to shoot over an SKS folder.

Folder is just more versatile for a short range firearm not like these are sniper guns.

Both are excellent, folders are more likely to be bent, fixed are usually harder to come by, fixed allows the buttstock to be removed far easier then the folder for customization. And which one looks better is completely subjective.

I personally think the fixed look ugly because of the weird stubby/curvy design of the stock.

I absolutely love my folder. It gets all the looks and questions at the range. It has a smidge of a bend in it. I notice it but its not terrible. Every time I give the rifle to someone, they can't even tell its bent unless I tell them.

Personally I prefer fixed stocks because many folders tend to rattle which bugs the hell out of me. That said a friend of mine just bought a T-81 folder and the stock was rock solid (as in absolutely NO movement). I have to say I was somewhat impressed.

Got fixed and dont regret it. Cheek weld and length of pull are perfect for me. I am taking forever but intend on trying to make a carry handle and convert dragunov stock to fit
