Let's see some pics of your Pimped out Troy PAR

I dislike forward spring assists on pumps, before I fired my shotgun for the first time I removed it. It's nice to be able to easily leave the action open, and it's nice to feed single rounds while bypassing the mag tube. Not sure if you can do the last one with the PAR???

With the mag in you would still have last round hold open. As far as single feed, it’s possible, a little more awkward than a shotty because of the barrel extension. If you point it down and let gravity do the work it isn’t too bad.

What spring?

The one shown in this photo on the bolt:

Since it is pressing the bolt carrier back and the bolt forward, I would think a slightly beefier spring might help with things.

Anyone try out the True North .300 Blackout 10.5" barrel on a PAR yet? I'm interested except am wondering if the .75" diameter barrel may interfere with the pump mechanism. Price is great but it would suck if this barrel diameter was just too big.

That barrel's diameter won't interfere with the pump mechanism. The problem is the gas block/gas port hole location on that barrel and how to plug it.

It will be right where the pump mechanism is so you can't take the easy route of plugging the gas port by installing a gas block in the reverse direction.

You would have to machine (or get someone to machine for you) a thin collar to press onto the barrel. Others have done this so it's not impossible. It's just not as convenient.

Maybe I'll do the ring collar thing. I just hate to drill & tap a grub screw, weld it over then change my mind and want to put it on a regular AR & can't. Thanks for your insight!

Mike

How does the steel cased .308 work in the 308 par I use tula in my .223 with no issues

Must be nice, I can't run Federal 223 or standard 5.56 green tips without extraction issues. Mine was from the first or second run of PAR,s with the fluted chamber. Do they still make the guns with this type of chamber, it sure destroys my brass as well?

I'm not sure i got mine from a guy on here he had a 14.5 inch barrel installed on it with no fluted chamber

So I’m considering picking up a 308 par. I have a tavor and bcl 102. I was looking at a bolt but being left handed it’s a pain in the ass as the options just aren’t there.
I want something decent for stalking type hunting as well as blind hunting.
What is the accuracy like on these rifles? Being a manual action vs semi auto is it more accurate and reliable?

I wish troy would make a shorty "PDW" version of this rifle. I have pretty limited tools and time.

If you could shorty a .308 model it would make one hell of a truck gun/animal bush defense gun, and 300blk would work pretty decent for the same purpose too.

The 16” version, while not super short is still very handy. I never measured it up but I thought a folding stock adaptor would have been great on there. Just the same though, with the upper and lower separated it’s quite manageable and only 2 pins away from fully operational.

My baby. 10.5" barrel in .300 Blackout. I have an Aimpoint Pro to put on but for now these Troy folding iron sights work fine. Had to cut down the hand guard and 3 pump brackets sprinkled with lots of Magpul stuff including pistol grip. The 3 prong AAC flash suppressor makes a funny tuning fork sound but no big deal. Interesting, take off the buttstock and measure from the buffer tube (yes, it's empty) to the muzzle (flash suppressor unscrewed off) it's 26.25" long. How awesome is that? By the way, the Battle Axe stock is a POS

You can see the shortened pump bracket support

Action is open. Handguard got cut really short but still strong enough. Handguard is made from aluminium so I used some chemical blue to darken the shiny parts

Crappy shadowed picture but you can see the ring I had machined for $25. Don't waste time with a finger ring from a jewellery shop as it's not flat all around (poor gas seal) plus hard to tap a grub screw

Now I need to shoot this unrestricted puppy! :d

I find I come back from time to time to gaze upon this beautiful rifle. If you ever decide to sell it, please contact me first.

That looks awesome. Do they take regular AR barrels but just need to plug the gasport?
