Let's see some pics of your Pimped out Troy PAR

Are Troy rail accessories ITAR? Or can someone point me to a dealer that actually stocks a lot of Troy rail accessories? Specifically the alpha rail.

I’m looking for:
Angled fore grip
Sling adapter
Flashlight holder maybe

All for the Troy alpha system. Or do you buy short rails and regular accessories?

Rampart carries the QA rail sections for the Alpha rails (measure carefully to make sure it'll fit with the pump mechanism, I believe the 2" section fits in front of the .223 version just fine, .308 you need to get creative)

I put a Magpul AFG on my bottom pump rail section, works great.

The "best" QD sling mount is probably the Noveske TRX for the alpha rail. Troy has a couple of options but they are expensive and aren't as good as the Noveske. Tiny little thing and it'll run you around $40 after shipping. Questar has 2 in stock (They still have the sketchiest website for gun stuff in Canada imo, but I did eventually get mine). I haven't installed it yet as I took a longer rail with a QD port and cut it down and mounted it to the front of my .308 (so it'll work with a sling or a bipod)

It ain’t pretty but I tied a doubled up loop of paracord through the holes in mine to mount my sling. Was easy, cheap, on hand, and is pretty solid. Then for bipod I had to use a machine screw thread sling swivel and some washers that fit the hole and bolted that together. Got impatient trying to find the proper parts.

I have the .300 aac PAR. I want to buy the Pump upgrade kit . They don't list one for .300 . Will a .308 kit fit mine ? anyone tried ?

I went with Jadam's route of cutting down the original Troy handguard as well. I tried a Battlecomp 2.0 clone, but didn't like the backwards blast I feel in the face, so I'll stick with the A2 birdcage. This is my first AR component rifle, so I don't have any other comparison, but the feeding is pretty pathetic. Yeah, I know, people say pump it with authority. My XCR for instance, won't go into battery if I slowly let the bolt go forward, but it'll at least strip a round completely and not jam.

Looking at the information about the Troy SAR, it seems like it'll be able to accommodate barrels down to about 7.5 inches. A 7.5 inch 300 BLK gun is intriguing, but not enough to warrant spending a further $1500 for me. And with the SAR's spring bolt return, it'll probably feed better.

Where are you finding information about the SAR? I've been very curious, especially whether the lower is changed at all. A shorty PAR and a longer barrelled precision SAR would be a nice combo package.

Our PARs are twinsies now! I haven't painted mine yet.

If anyone hasn't yet bought the pump upgrade kit I do recommend it. Pumps smoother and you an still use the rail sections if you dremel off the standoff nubs on the back of the rails. I've been doing some work on my PAR and will post pics once I have it all back together.

From the SAR pictures, it seems the spring guide rod goes pretty far into the handguard. I estimate about 7" or so. So I think a 7" handguard and a 7.5" barrel should be okay. If it's too close to sticking out the front end, I think one can always truncate the spring guide rod a bit.

I would guess the SAR lower is dimensionally the same. I heard from one of the reps say on a ShotShow video that the bolt lock function is changed into a last round bolt hold open function, which seems logical. I had some thoughts of building an M16 A4-ish type of rifle from a SAR, but with the upcoming release of the various $1,000 AR-like receiver sets, it doesn't seem worth the effort.

And if the Lithgow F90 ever passes the firearms lab as non-restricted, that'd be my priority before any of these curiosity/novelty firearms.

Iv been toying with a sa20 styled par I'd have to modify the handguard obviously and the pump but I think it could work

Has me thinking of adding a forward assist spring behind the pump mechanism inside the handguard. I think I have a spring at work that might fit. Puller back and letter go

I think a forward assist spring should have been standard on the pump from the get go. It would ensure that the bolt stays fully forward into battery just like the recoil buffer spring does on an ar-15. The spring wouldn't have to be quite as heavy either to get the job done.

Part of the problem some people are having with light strikes is due to not slamming the action home hard enough and/or not maintaining forward pressure while the round is chambered. When they pull the trigger the bolt is still a couple thousands off from being in full battery. That's all it takes to increase the chances of light strikes, especially with the addition of lighter aftermarket triggers and/or ammo with harder primers.

I run the pump on mine hard and have no issue, however my buddy used it and had the light strike issue. I couldn't figure it out why it wouldn't work for him until I saw him limp wristing the pump. I think that's part of the reason why some have had issues. A forward assist spring may help with this. It definitely wouldn't hurt anything by being there.

I dislike forward spring assists on pumps, before I fired my shotgun for the first time I removed it. It's nice to be able to easily leave the action open, and it's nice to feed single rounds while bypassing the mag tube. Not sure if you can do the last one with the PAR???

It's be nice if Rampart would restock it LOL:)

I asked the other day; they're not even willing to stock a replacement firing pin, so I don't hold much hope for another round of pump kits.

They did a restock not that long ago as I just picked one up. I gather Troy is not easy to deal with. Wouldn’t surprise me to hear they had minimums to order etc for dealers.

I thought about that too, but the spring behind the bolt should accomplish that too. Perhaps a stronger spring there would be a better option.

here is mine, just finished.

modifications and add-ons:

- 10.5'' 5.56 barrel (it was 300blk)
- Machined ring to cover the gas port
- A kind of Noveske muzzle device from True north arms

Love this build. You guys think the same thing can be done with the 308 version?
