5th Annual Double Gun Classic

I saw that rule this year yet no problem with my 13 yo son last year. He stuck near the picnic tables and went down to the coffee shop with me. I guess he just kept a low profile. Patrick put him to work as the ballot collector and official photographer. He’ll probably be back this year.

BTW incredibly dumb rule. How are we supposed to attract new people to the sport if they aren’t allowed on the property? One more way we figuratively shoot ourselves in the foot.

Totally agree. Its as stupid of a rule as it can get. Somehow I doubt they enforce it. I’ve never seen anyone going around asking people for PAL’s. When I went with my GF, I brought her into the clubhouse which gave them reason to ask. She didnt mind staying inside as the weather was crap and she had to make a phone call anyhow

Ya thats why i wouldnt bring her. She doesnt have a license. She doesnt shoot shotguns she just loves nice classic sxs guns.
Id hate to make the 325km trip to have her sit outside the gate. I think the 3 hour trip home would be awkward lol

Oshawa trap and skeet has a dumb rule that people without PAL’s are not allowed on the premise. Dont know how strict they are at enforcing it, but its something to keep in mind. I went once with my significant other and was told by the lady working the counter that anyone without a license was to remain in the club house

Hmm, seems they don't want any new shooters in Canada, maybe they have plans for the real estate when the current ones are all dead? :)

I don't spend much time at gun clubs so I really have to say I am gobsmacked by the stupidity of this rule and am astounded the membership, through the board, has agreed to it or continues to put up with it. I'm just a guest, so not my place to complain to them but it really is insane.

I don't want to hijack the thread but is this a common rule for clubs?? I can understand.....not really .....for restricted, but for trap, skeet or SC's?? Absolutely nuts.

Belonged to quite a few over the years, shot at a bunch more and have looked at many more besides that and they have no such rule, based on the fact that it is downright ridiculous and ultimately dangerous to firearms ownership.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again!

As for the previously discussed rule....the club I usually shoot at does not have this rule at all. All people are welcome on the property. If unlicensed individuals what to try and shoot, they cannot be in possession of their own firearm. They need to share a firearm with a licensed mentor and need to shoot with the licensed mentor at arms reach. Usually the mentor carries the ammo and hands it to the unlicensed shooter shot by shot

No it is not common. Quite unusual actually. I would like to hear an explanation.

Received Patrick's reminder email (like I needed one) for next Saturday's SxS meet. In there is a note about a "for sale" table. I'm intending to bring a couple with me that I wouldn't mind moving....one SxS and a newish (less than 200 rounds since new in 2004) O/U.

Other attendees should consider bringing anything related to the subject (not just guns) that they would like to move.

I will be bringing a GHG layout blind with snow cover, used maybe six times, already mudded and grassed. Might have a couple of other hunting related items.
