Has anyone tried reloader 26 with 130 grain bullets in the 270 winchester. I have used rl26 in a 270wsm and 140 gr. accubonds with good success and also use it in my 280 ackley.

The beauty of RL26 as you can get a lot of powder in the case. Should be no problem pushing 130's to 3200 fps. Start at around 58 grains and work up in 0.6gr increments

I've only used it with 150gr in the 270, speeds were over 3000 fps from 24" barrel

Hmmm might have to try rl26 when im out of imr4350 with those numbers.

try r-22 seems to be the magic powder for the .270

I am getting amazing results with IMR 7977. It is part of the new Enduron series and I can easily achieve 2950 fps with a 150 grain Nosler Partition out of a 24" barrel using 62 grains of powder. I have a Weatherby Vanguard Series 2 rifle which has a considerable jump gap which allows me to seat bullets long. The IMR 7977 powder has an ideal loading density for the 270 Winchester case and fills it up quite nicely as well as producing a slow burn rate for achieving top velocities as reasonable pressures.

I have recently purchased some Reloder 16 and I will be creating a load ladder for a 130 grain Nosler AccuBond. Should be interesting. Apparently R16 is extremely temperature insensitive and very accurate according to posted testing on the Internet. Alliant Recipe states that a velocity of 3202 fps is attainable as a maximum with a 130 grain Nosler Partition (55.3 grains of RL16 in a 24" barrel) and 3054 fps with a 140 grain Nosler AccuBond (53.5 grains of RL16 in a 24" barrel). Some say it rivals H4350 in accuracy and temperature insensitivity. It was readily available before COVID ... and I purchased 8 lbs of it.

... at the gun club last week I finalized one of my 270 Win load recipes ...

for my Weatherby Vanguard Series 2 rifle in 270 Win with a 24" barrel at 100 meters (109 yards) I obtained the following results.

Reload Set - Whitetail Deer and Elk Load

Hornady Brass (fire formed)
Winchester Large Rifle (WLR) Primers
Nosler Partition 150 grain
IMR 7977 Powder @ 60.5 grains
>>COAL = 3.340"
>>Average velocity = 2953 fps (15 shot data set)
>>Hi velocity = 2977 fps
>>Lo velocity = 2922 fps
>>ES = 55 fps
>>SD = 16 fps
>>5 Shot Group Size = 0.75"
>>Looks promising for accuracy
>>No pressure signs
>>Outside temperature was 23 Celsius with 80% Relative Humidity
>>Slight breeze, some rain, some sun

I have high hopes for this hunting load. I will use it for this year's whitetail deer hunting season. IMR 7977 and Alliant Reloder 26 have very similar burn rates so I include it in this thread.
I would dearly love to test RL26 but I have not been able to find any to buy ... and I have been looking for over a year .....

In addition I am also currently finalizing Alliant Reloder 16 load recipes for Nosler AccuBond 130 grain and 140 grain bullets.
Both these lighter bullets should do amazing velocities with RL16 since it has a very similar burn rate to H4350. RL16 is more suited to these lighter bullets than RL26 and will produce much higher velocities. 150 grain bullets are another story ... RL26 shines in this weight category for the 270 Winchester.
I will post results here within a few weeks.

... more charge ladder testing ... Alliant Reloder 16 sure looks promising.

for my Weatherby Vanguard Series 2 rifle in 270 Win with a 24" barrel at 100 meters (109 yards) I obtained the following results.

Reload Set - Whitetail Deer Load 1

Hornady Brass (fire formed)
Winchester Large Rifle (WLR) Primers
Nosler AccuBond 130 grain
Alliant Reloder 16 Powder @ 58.0 grains
>>COAL = 3.375"
>>Average velocity = 3269 fps (3 shot data set)
>>Hi velocity = 3276 fps
>>Lo velocity = 3265 fps
>>3 Shot Group Size = 0.8"
>>Looks promising for accuracy
>>No high pressure signs ... primer a bit flat ... no pin cratering or ejector marks ... or primer pocket dark rings
>>Outside temperature was 23.5 Celsius with 66% Relative Humidity
>>light breeze, sun

Reload Set - Whitetail Deer Load 2

Hornady Brass (fire formed)
Winchester Large Rifle (WLR) Primers
Nosler AccuBond 140 grain
Alliant Reloder 16 Powder @ 55.5 grains
>>COAL = 3.365"
>>Average velocity = 3092 fps (3 shot data set)
>>Hi velocity = 3102 fps
>>Lo velocity = 3082 fps
>>3 Shot Group Size = 0.7"
>>Looks promising for accuracy
>>No high pressure signs ... primer a bit flat ... no pin cratering or ejector marks ... or primer pocket dark rings
>>Outside temperature was 24.0 Celsius with 70% Relative Humidity
>>light breeze, sun

... will do more testing with 10 or 15 shot strings to get some ES and SD data to determine the cartridge pressure dynamics. Then I will conduct 3 or 4 5-shot strings to determine the rifle dynamics and see if they produce small groups.

I use Reloder #16 behind the 130 gr. accubond. Average accuracy is .350" at 100 yards, velocity average is 3,260 fps. My rifle is fully custom with a 27" barrel. If you do experiment with Reloder 26 and the 130 gr., please let us know the results.

X-Reload has a large selection of the Alliant powder line, though RL26 is currently sold out in both 1lb and 8lb containers.I've purchased a number of items by checking their inventory on a daily basis, and have made arrangements with them in the past to bring in component's in larger volumes to reduce my shipping cost's.
