That sucks..... what's the distributor telling you?
They are great guns, but their shipping and logistics are terrible. I was looking for my Summit Accent, for a long time, in Canada. was just about to look at importing it from the US when I found one. Great guns , but the company needs to improve delivery dates. Mine is approaching, 35k rounds with out a failure of any kind. I recently was looking for some choke tubes and told likely six to eight months. Unacceptable

I have to think that a one year wait for a production line gun is not the norm, they wouldn't be selling any guns if it was.
A few years back, a friend ordered a Perazzi and it took nearly a year for delivery. It was built to his stock dimensions but there was no time consuming fancy engraving to delay making of the gun. And, it was shipped direct from Italy to Canada.
He was told to expect a year for delivery and they were true to their word.
Another friend ordered a custom stocked Rizzini and that took 6-8 months.
Slightly off topic, but custom rifle actions such as Defiance are about 6 months for delivery---some are even more depending upon demand etc.

I was waiting on The Gun Dealer in New Brunswick to get some stock in a couple years ago but bought a Guerini Ellipse Evo Sporting 32” off the EE. Very nice gun and a bargain it was. Bought extra Briley chokes through Lawreys in Ontario.

Distributor places one order a year to economize on shipping costs.
Manufacturer builds to order when it is received. Six months to complete order.
Trans-Atlantic shipping and the purgatory of Customs clearance.
Order finally received and shipped to retailers.
Catch 22: Retailers are reluctant to stock until demand is there, demand does not increase due to limited opportunity to examine.
I shoot several NSCA events in New England each year. Caesars are VERY common there due to Caesar Guerini USA and their dealer network, but this comes at a price (literally).
US retail is considerably higher than ours, and in US dollars to boot.

I'm suddenly interested in this make, but would never buy such an expensive upland double without knowing I'm getting an acceptable fit. Do they make them with a sizing similar to, say, a Beretta double? And are they all 20 bore?
Having spent 35 years in wholesale to retailers I can confirm this is relatively correct. I would add, however, that it's a change, from decades ago, driven by retailers who refuses to commit to stocking inventory and the resultant higher retail costs that entails. And of course that is driven by a consumer who forgoes expertise and service in pursuit of the lowest possible price. JIT works well when both retailer and wholesaler are committed to the process......a rare happening. Neither can make it good on their own.
Be careful what you ask for....you may get it. We don't always understand the implications of our requests.
I am quite late in joining this thread but I cannot keep quiet.
As an owner of 6 CG Field guns I cannot say enough about the quality and aesthetics of these fantastic guns.
They are great guns and are in high demand the world over but as Canadians we must face facts.
We are a small market. The USA has more than ten times the market. I understand the US distributor is a part owner of CG.
It is understandable that when CG is working flat out on production, there are going to be long waits for these very desirable guns.
It is also understandable that supply to the US market should be given preference, especially when they retail for 60% more in the US.
I currently have had two CG's on order since May 2019. I was told delivery would be Dec 2019 but this has been updated to Mar 2020.
I am not troubled by this as my price is $4495 plus tax as opposed to obtaining one from the USA at $7232 plus tax.
MD Charlton have been helpful answering my delivery inquiries and they are doing their best, as smaller quantity distributors of these fine guns.
MDC has gone beyond what I would expect, offering the Pitstop program in Canada (considering they are selling the guns much cheaper than the USA).
I agree with the other posts, that the Wholesale /Retail market has changed and retailers do not keep large inventory. However, this is caused by us, the consumer.
We shop for the best prices and order from around the world to get the best "deal". It makes it very difficult for a retailer and consequently the wholesaler to stock a large number of guns.
I am just thankful that we have an established reputable distributor, supplying and supporting CG shotguns in Canada, and will patiently wait for the arrival of my two guns.

Wade Kirk is absolutely correct I to have spent 35 yrs in the firearms industry back in the day I could phone one of 6-10 wholesale companies and all most any firearm I wanted shipped to the store the next day . I have 3 C G guns very nice guns purchased about 6 yrs ago when fn was the distributor they always had a inventory.

If I was told up front that my gun would be 1 year in coming then I would make the decision whether to purchase and wait or not. If I was told it would be a couple of months or not told any date at all and still ordered only to wait a year or more then I wouldn't be happy.

They make any bore that you want. I also wouldn't want to purchase one not knowing if it will fit or not. Any CG gun I've tried on fits me very well in fact my Tempio Light and Summit are probably the best fitting out of the box factory guns that I have but of course that doesn't mean that they will fit you.
