TRS-25 on for $80 at Dantes

That’s a good deal, I think I paid $118 for mine a few years back. They’re good little red dots, can’t think of a complaint I have with mine. Mine has held up well to recoil from full power 12g loads, slugs and buckshot.

Have never seen one on a rifle. Look like they get mounted to a single Weaver-type base configuration, or something else?

Ted

Weaver, Picatinny, I even used dovetail to weaver adapters to mount them on rimfires.

Well, after providing shipping address during the checkout process and no shipping charges were applied I just received this little tidbit via email as part of the emailed order confirmation: Despite the invoice for shipped items showing no shipping cost there's a line up top "Shipping and handling charges will be calculated and added to your order"

I was expecting to pay shipping but appreciate being advised upfront of what those costs plus handling charges may be during the checkout process.

We'll see what they come up with, I'm envisioning, due to continuing efforts to serve their customers better, there will be $35 shipping charge plus a $25 dollar handling fee.

Excuse the ignorance .... I shoot iron sights .... what kind of rifles are these good for?

Any application that’s pretty close to the shooter and benefits from quick target acquisition. If you haven’t tried one, you should give it a go.

Great for hunting, because unlike irons or a magnified scope, you keep both eyes open, and it just sort of looks like someone went and painted a red spot on that deer’s vitals. The additional open eye doubles your peripheral vision and aids in your situational awareness.

The batteries last for weeks and can be bought 3 for a buck at dollerama (sunbeam brand).

They’re a good replacement for irons when you get to a point in your life where squinting and trying to focus on 3 different things becomes tiresome. My dad is right handed and right eyed, but his right eye isn’t very good anymore. With both eyes open, his left eye frames the animal, and the right eye paints the blurry red dot onto the animal.

I’m not a wing shooter, but I tried my hand a clays with it on. I don’t think I was worse than I am with a bead.

Not ideal though if you’re shooting past 100 yards. Most units have a 3 moa dot or larger.
