So here i am on facebook, just chatting away about shooting my a400 at the trap club, when this fella decides to go after me for using a semi-auto instead of an over under. he precedes to tell me that he spent $12,000 on a Perazzi and hates us guys with auto ejectors and semi-autos because the ejected shells could scratch his fancy shotgun... i'v encountered this at my local trap and skeet range on a personal level as well. i have been a member for about 5 years now at my trap club. and am curious. how do you guys handle these people ? every bone in my body tells me i need to tell him where to go and how to get there. but this scenario seems to be happening more and more. dont these type of guys chase away new members ? you hear it all the time including at my handgun range which i just took over for as head chair. its always the 60+ years old crew that seems to do it. why cant everyone just get along and enjoy shooting ? it baffles my mind sometimes. opinions ? ideas ?:redface:
 
This prejudice existed in different versions as long as shotguns were around.

First it was SxS versus O/U which were considered too 'European' and 'Non traditional' and 'Non sporting'

Then it was the Semis vs non Semis for the same reasons.

The Browning Double Auto was designed specifically to create a semi auto which was a 2 shot just to try to get acceptance from the SxS and O/U crowd.

Trap and 5 stand are the only sports where one shooter needs to stand beside another, it shouldn't be an issue on the sporting clays or skeet ranges. However, whether I'm shooting my Perazzi or my beat up old goose gun, if your gun is bouncing hulls off of mine while I'm standing where I should be then I'm going to say something to you. It's up to you to make sure that you don't damage other peoples equipment.
Having said that, I would never attack someone I don't know online about it when I don't know any details or circumstances.

I guess you meant "safe-queen", not equipment. If you intend not to damage it, you shouldn't subject it to controlled combustion... Ie. don't shoot your mint $12k peperonni gun.

ps: I *do* get the feeling myself, I'm having trouble roughing a $350 hardguard in the bush, but even though it's a 3k build, it's at foremost a hunting gun, so I'm bending over and take it.
 
He could always offer to trade positions with you if he's that bothered by it. Otherwise make a peace offering, perhaps a bottle of Chanel N°5 Eau De Parfum Spray would go nicely with his jewellery.
 
Frick, if you are that worried about your safe queen, leave it in the safe.
Ya you can always offer to switch spots if it bothers anyone that much but buddy can make sure he keeps his queen in the clear. It goes both ways.
It's a gun, it goes bang, and it ejects shells.....not sure what some people expect at a gun range...

remind me of these guys pulling their lambo out of the garage and whining about the squished mosquitos on the hood and scratch mark after driving it...
 
not reducing some ones experience on the line with shells or brass hitting them is just common courtesy. when people respect each other it makes for a much nicer club.
 
It's Double Nice if shooting (old/ ugly/ cheep /) and you can get a higher score.

they you can say ... yours is not working right ... Do you want to ... use mine .. trade etc..

Btw .. best I have done in trap was 21.... did do 16 with a Rem 870 pump ic barrel iron sights on a fluke day when buddy says lets do trap

You need to go back and re read my post before spewing this garbage.
