Secure a single AR mag in a double stack pouch

I recently acquired a tac vest and then realized that the mag pouches were all for double stacked mags.

I’d like to run the pouches with an open top (no bungee cords or Velcro straps) for faster reloads but want to use a single mag per pouch.

The issue is that I can’t secure the mag in place. It’s loose in there and when I move around I risk loosing the mags. I found some kydex inserts that get wedged in the pouch to secure the mag, but they are made for single mag pouches, so that doesn’t work Either. The company makes double inserts but they are nowhere to be found and seem to be discontinued.

Any ideas ? Other solutions ?

Sell your pouches on fleabay and buy new ones. If you're in a competition, I wouldn't want flaky gear that could screw me up.

Problem is my pouches are fixed to the tac vest and can’t be removed.

For anyone looking for a similar solution, I found that the Haley Strategic MP2 pouches do the job extremely well.

They fit perfectly in a double stack pouch, stay snug inside and retain my AR mags.

Yup. Get to sewing. Get some shock cord and barrel locks and rig it up.
