Hey,

Going to nut up and by a complete AR15 rifle this weekend when all the good sales come up. I have a short list from my LGS, but as I only have a stripped receiver at this time, I don't really know much about these and need a bit of help from people that have these as to which one offers the most "bang for the buck" I'm not going to be doing any competitions with it any time soon, and I know that I can tweek the heck out of it at any point if I feel the urge. I just want something that is a good entry level rifle to play with for as long as I can! Will probably put a scope on it.

Here are my choices:

1. Bushmaster QRC AR15 $899.95
2. Colt Expance M4 AR15 $999.95
3. Diamondback AR15 $779.95
4. DPMS Panter AR15 $1049.95
5. Ruger AR556 $849.95
6. Savage Arms MSR15 Recon $1099.99
7. S&W M&P $869.95

What would you choose and why?

Cheers,

Ian

S&W M&P 15 and Ruger 556. They're not so much cheap as they're affordable. I have both and like both. Nothing fancy here but both are completely functional and reliable. Bought them for $659 and $699 respectively over the winter. I can understand why they're back to full price now.

X2 - great entry rifles for the price.

Al Flaherty's has M&P for $659.

Colt expanse poor reviews. Go with an LE 6920
S&W MP Sport II. You wont be disappointed. I have 2. They are very good. Trigger pull was surprisingly good compared to my HBAR
Ruger's are nice but I find the finishing is a bit rougher on the one I have compared to the S&W M&P Sport II. If your going Ruger go with the SR 556
Don't have any experience with the others. Only Bushmaster I ever had is classified naughty now so got rid of it.

DD because a bit more coin equals a lot more gun. Also on my short list is Anderson. For a sub 1k gun They're under rated because the materials they use are top notch. I even find myself using their parts on builds. Rounding out my list is the m400, not that it is anything special just different enough. The only one I like on your list is the Savage for all the wrong reasons, mostly because of the proprietary parts which makes it stand out from the crowd a bit.
