Am thinking of doing a F class build with this cartridge and am looking for some feedback on this cartridge on how it is preforming. Anybody shooting one??

I know a few gents who find it second to none when used with the High BC Bergers.

This cartridge will do well in time.....

It is a fantastic cartridge based on a 22-250 with outstanding numbers. The lack of a lapua-based brass is what made me opt for a 6X47 Lapua instead. The numbers are very very close. check out 6mmhot.com for more info. The disadvantages of the XC as I see it are its use of large primers and the brass.

No question, David Tubb has done fantastic things with the XC though.

I picked up my Dave Kiff 6mm Dasher reamer last night for a new Gaillard which should be here any day now. The Dasher will drive the new 108gr Berger's with a BC of .546 to 3000fps. I got Lapua brass from Peter at Hirsch Precision, whom I've never met, definately one of the good guys and where all my Lapua business will be from now on.

My line of thinking was to pick a 6mm or 6.5 bullet with a high BC and a velocity near 3000pfs. I shoot a 300wsm now and the Dasher will equal it at 1000 according to ballistic programs. I would have to got to a 300RUM with 240's to beat the Dasher with any margin worth the switch. I choose the Dasher over the straight BR because of the 130fps boost and I have my own lathe and reamer to make a fireforming barrel. I looked at all the others as well, tough decision on which cartridge isn' it.

Cheers,
Rob

It will work just fine. Wildcats of similar design have been around since the 70's with an admirable history of smoking little furry things at long ranges.

As far as the LR vs SR primer debate, I see little accuracy advantage to the SR primer when igniting this much powder. Just remember that some are having issues with the small primer in the Lapua. That simply will never occur with a LR primer.

The new heavy 6mm VLD bullets demand a case larger then the 6BR family can deliver. If you limit to the lighter 107gr class, the BR will work well but for the 115 and heavier, not enough boiler room.

For F class, look at the distances you will shoot. If shooting 600yds and in, the 6mm is a formidable cal. For longer, have a long hard look at the 6.5's and 7's. Reducing wind drift no matter how small, is important.

If you can handle the recoil, the 180gr Berger is a LR bullet with superb ballistics and accuracy. My shoulder will not put up with this much fun.

I personally shoot a 139gr Lapua at 2900fps duplicating the 6.5-284 but in the smaller Mystic (260AI variant) case. Ballistically, it will beat the 6BR family at distances beyond 600yds. More or less equal to the larger 6mm wildcats and the new 6mm heavy bullets.

Big problem. Can you get these 6mm bullets consistently, reliably and affordably? Right now there is only one supplier of the high BC 6mm bullets. More may follow but then 6.5 and 7mm are no brainers even in Canada.

If I stick with shooting 300m to 600yds, I would look at the 6mm when my 6.5 barrels burn out. The benefit of the 6.5 is not big enough at short ranges to equal the increased recoil especially if you have a buggered shoulder.

What twist/bullet are you going to use? ...it should be fun indeed!

I'll be shooting 115 SMK's(Dtac's) at near 3000 fps. This combo has won several Wimbledon Cups at Camp Perry. If it's good enough for those guys, it's good enough for me.It's a 1/7.5 twist.

Thank's guy's now anybody have or know of anybody with a 6 mm. XC reamer???

And yes I shoot a 6BR. at present, and obtaining quality reloading component's is a expensive pain in this country.
