M305 receiver question

I have found a M305 receiver for sale buyer says the rifle had a rough chamber and had the rifle re barreled. In doing so he changed bolts (to usgi I assume). The smith doing the work said that the new bolt didn't quite work in the M305 receiver so the seller acquired a new receiver and is selling the original. I have been looking but have not seen anyone with this issue. Should I still go for it? My goal was to build a Wolverine parts kit.

I had an m305 reciever that was so out of spec no bolts would fit it except for the mim bolt that it came with
Gotta love Chinese QC
If the reciever is one of the older ones then chances are that it’s ok
If I had to do it all over again the norinco wouldn’t even be a consideration I would just spend the money and get a Springfield

If his gunsmith didn't want him to use it, that doesn't sound good. It had better be cheap.

this was kind of what i was thinking, he isn't asking that much. I just wanted to make sure that it was't some odd norinco thing that the smith didn't know about and the receiver is fine. I guess I will just pass on it then. thanks all for the input.

If you can pick up/ look at receiver in person... and try a usgi Bolt in it ?

I have seen a few receivers that are bad... and a lot that Great

1 not a norinco (usa made )that would not close on a usgi bolt on a striped receiver ..... this receiver was also twisted ... but bolt should fit.

at the last M14 clinic .. oshawa .. some one did a barrel swap and the bolt had to be lapped to fit ... but do not know details .... barrel / receiver/ bolt ...
so could have been any of the three out of spec or just cumulative effect

I also have seen a barrel swap where , when the barrel was installed the thread part of the barrel was too long .. so the bolt would not close ... could have been barrel or receiver

Yeah this is tough, any chance you can find out exactly why the usgi bolt didnt work?

There actually are quirky norinco things that could be fixed like bolt roller contacting the receiver or uneven lug contact.

If you can get it cheap it may be worth a shot.

But if the bolt falls out the back of the receiver or theres a safety bridge issue do not proceed!!
