Stag 10 issues feeding

Finally got mine out to range, it was cleaned and lubed and yet not one round would feed. All had to be fed by hand after I cleared each jam and it would not lock back on last round. It is not getting enough gas at all. All factory ammo used from federal and hornady 150 to 168's all failed.

Anyone had this issue? This was not expected at all from this gun, I have other AR10's (bcl102) and it runs fine and I did nothing different with this one and used same ammo. Any help would be appreciated.

Didn't some of these come from Stag with the gas block misaligned?

Not misaligned, but the set screws were not tightened correctly. Simple fix, just align , degrease the screws and holes and a drop of red Loctite on each will fix the issue. I have since switched mine out to an SLR adjustable one.

Probably this. Did you assemble the rifle yourself or change anything on it from factory?

You want the hole in the gas block to match up with the hole in the barrel.

It's a factory gun. I will check to see if gas block is on tight and aligned properly.

Thanks

Had same issue this weekend with my Stag 10 GI. Running Norinco 7.62 and had to cycle the bolt manually. Empties were barely coming out.

Checked the gas block tonight - the port was fully aligned with the block. Is it really a lubricant issue? That Norinco is hot stuff so undergassing was a major surprise.

In my experience the 5.56 norinco is hot, but the 7.62x51 is actually somewhat of a weaker load, and usually doesn't cycle well in most peoples ar10 guns until they are broken in.

Any wear on on the bolt lugs? Does there seem to be an abnormal amount of resistance when you cycle the rifle?

Interesting... I've never chronoed the 7.62, but given the way it runs like a champ in my 1919, i assumed it was higher powered. I bought this gun as a plinker, so hoping this ammo will work.

No wear on lugs at all. Very smooth operation - it's all well lubed and moving well. I'm using the stock buffer/spring in a UBR stock.

Is the Stag 10 stamped as a .308 or 7.62? Perhaps .308 will break it in/ loosen it up before 7.62 will properly feed. 308 is hotter than even Norc 7.62 should be.

Wondering if it could be an issue with the gas rings... If you take out the BCG and push the bolt head in and then hold the BCG vertical does the bolt head drop down on its own?

For mine I used only 308. My gas block looks a bit canted to left so I hope that is it, i will look at gas rings as well.

The short period I had my stag 10 It ran 100% without a muzzle device... soon as i added a brake.... cycled super weak, failed to lock open ect. removed device and it ran awesome, even in -30 weather.

This may very well be Canucklehead's issue. He has a very effective brake on it, worth a try taking it off buddy!

What in the actual.... well yes I do have a brake on the end. I've never had an issue where adding a brake did anything but reduce recoil.

On that note - recoil is preeettty light on a 12lb+ Stag 10 with a brake. :) I'll give it a try!
