Looks like a modern repro. Machine rolled decorative work, not engraved. And a sloppy off-centre pivot bolt. Made to look expensive, but it's not. Turkish maybe. That's my uneducated evaluation....

Take the barrel off and show us the proof markings underneath. I am putting my money on India.

Good one: "India proof marks". I'll give you 10:1 odds its not India (or Turkey). Continental Europe most likely Belgium but maybe Spain or Italy. How much money are we talking about? Yes, photos of the action flats and barrel flats will tell a story about what this gun is.

Yea their proof marks just say india. weather or not they actually proof it. I have a muzzle loading shotgun and it has a striking resemblance to the one OP has. The shape of the hammers and weird crayon brown wood. if I need to I will dig that old POS out and take pics.

It's clearly a modern knock-off with machine rolled decorative work. Not engraved. Very poor fit and finish. No way its Belgian. I'm keeping this light hearted though, because I don't know exactly what it is... but it's not quality.

Me too, Josh. Curious to see what the real answer is.

No way its Belgian.
Yes, it is.

The reason the slot in that pin is not exactly center although is perfectly aligned with the axis of the gun is that it was made by hand. They made the pin with a temporary large head then thread it in until it bottoms out. Mark the spot then file down the head until its going to be flush. Then make a new slot by hand. That's why not dead center because not made by a machine. Not going to see that type of labour put into a Turkish repro let alone my questioning the idea anyone in Turkey could build those barrels.

I’m voting for Belgian.

In aid of keeping it light, IIRC isn’t “Belgian” a profanity in Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy?

It is a gold-plated VW for sure, regardless of the origin. Note in the first photo that the right firing pin is already mushroomed from hammer impact. But then again my 110 year old London S x S looks like that too..
