Tavor???

You owe Greentips some money.

Aftermarket bullpup stocks are prohibited.
Some bullpup rifles are specifically listed as being prohibited.

The Tavor is not on the list of prohibited bullpup rifles and the stock is an essential part of the the action.

"...How is it that..." No trying to use logic to understand the laws. You'll get brain damage.
"...What standards are used..." The theory is that if the rifle can be fired without the stock, it's evil. Most of the time, though, it's up to the whim of whoever looks at it first.

No, it is very logical. A stock is a stock. If the body holds the bolt group, it is a receiver. A body that holds a box that contains the bolt group is a stock.

That's why the stock of the Walther rifle is prohib, as well as the stock of Vektor CR21 and the fibrelite drop in for the Mini 14/Mossberg 500. However, any bullpup that I can think of, including TAVOR, MSAR 556, SK SR21, Norinco type95/97, SA80 semi auto will be legal as they don't have bullpup stock.

I think this will be the very last time we should repeat this topic again.

I bet ya $10 it isn't ... :D

Waste of time as no one reads the stickies anyway.

Well a stickie on Bullpup legality in the Black Rifle section would be easier to find. Some people might not think that a specific case like this would be in the middle of the new members FAQ, and outside that, it's often buried in the middle of one of the many long bullpup threads.

I mean, the AR-180 got a sticky, and there's got to be even more questions about bullpups than the -180

A sticky might be useful in making it easier for mods to direct members with a link rather than type out the whole explanation every time the question is asked ... just a thought. :)

As an afterthought, perhaps a reference section/forum would work better as "Sticky's" can take up a fair amount of space at the top of a forum. Reference posts might be moderator posted only, but readable by all members.

How is it that a bullpup stock is banned yet the Tavor is not? What standards are used to determian what is ok and what is not?

Seriously, why waste everyones time? It is clear that the RCMP and the CFC have OK'd various bullpup configurations for non-restricted import based on the LAW and the Regulations that come with them.

The TAVOR is worth the $$$ IMHO. :dancingbanana:

I agree .. just but one (enjoy it while you can) then prepare to get grandfathered like the first OIC ;) ... at least you can say you had one back i nthe day ..etc.etc.etc.
