A pair of 9mm CCO's built on Caspian frames and slides. Barsto barrels, Heinie Rear with Gold bead front sights. Don Williams at The Action Works built these for me almost 15 years ago.

Blasphemy, a 1911 in 45 is the same size. Why settle for less.

1. More affordable ammunition
2. Less recoil, more important as one ages, especially if arthritis is an issue.
3. The gun will be extremely durable, especially if the frame is steel, since it's designed to take the recoil of the more powerful .45.
4. One more round in magazines.

Walther PPQ with 106mm Jarvis Barrel. I don't consider it compact since it's larger than a Glock 19.
I am very fond of the single stack compact pistols, in our country the double stacked pistols make no sense and add useless bulk.

Even in the US where CCW is legal, single stack pistols are popular because their slimness makes them easier to carry and conceal, they are lighter and in civilian self defense situations the 8 round mags are more than enough.

If I was a young man just getting into pistols without decades of muscle memory for the "Non Glock Grip Angled guns", I would buy a Glock 48 and call it a day. Size is comparable to all the classic metal framed Single stacks and you get a 10 round magazine.

The other option is to order 106 mm barrel from Jarvis, buy a 4" PPQ from Irunguns, they will switch the barrel for you prior to importing to Canada.

Certainly an option. I think right now, a gently used Navy + my 'smith would be a less expensive option. I would expect my 'smith to do the work for <$200 to cut and crown the barrel. The threaded portion of the Navy barrel would be lost but truthfully I will be dead and buried before we see suppressors legal here in Canada. To many movies to jerk the Liberals into action at the thought of suppressors in the hands of Canadians.

Take Care

I got my 48 a week ago....I don’t know if I can afford it! 4 trips to the range in a week, put the thousandth round through it this morning. What an AWESOME pistol! I was convinced they couldn’t outdo the 19X, but I was wrong. As much as I enjoy my 19X, it’s HUGE in comparison...well, it FEELS huge.
It (the 48) is a gun Glock should have made 10 years ago. I think once a few more get out into the wild, they will be impossible to get, they are going to be a Top seller for Glock in Canada within a year, I bet.

Well they've sold me one and I'm making plans for a second already...

Got my Glock 48 yesterday from Bulls Eye London and it definitely goes to the top of the list.
In hand it feels exactly like a polymer version of the great handling Third Gen single stack Smith and Wesson autos of the 90s.

Medium size glove but short stubby fingers.
Single stack always better for me.
In revolvers S&W K frames are perfect while the N is way too big.

Good to hear, I have large hands and the only 9mm I tried was the fn, I coudnt get a nice grip while shooting it so it had a pretty good recoil. I ordered a glock 19 gen4 and still waiting for it, hesitated with the 48 but with my hand size lead me to the 19.
