22LR Pistol Recommendation Please !

Ive got a smith and wesson revolver going up for sale soon. Excellent pistol, looks badass too.
S&W 617. 6" 10rd cylinder.

Depends what your taste is like. Do you like semi autos? The Ruger Mark4 is pretty sweet to shoot too
 
The 22/45 Lite is a beaut. I just came back from camping in Montana and a friend who lives down there brought out a 22/45 Lite with a Sparrow 22 suppressor and a mini red dot sight. It was just a hoot hitting steel targets at 50 yards without hearing protection. We were using Eley subsonic ammo. The trigger on his was excellent but I'm not sure if it's factory or not.

Btw, I took my AR15 down there just for fun. No hiccups at the border in either direction. Americans just wanted to check serial numbers and CBSA checked all my paperwork at primary (there was no line-up) and let me go.
 
I'll cast a dissenting vote and say Browning Buck Mark. Accurate and super reliable. I shoot rimfire steel challenge with mine and can count the number of stoppages I've had on the fingers of one hand.

These are about the best of the economically priced pistols, but they are not great either.

i tried everything I could, and nothing had the fit, finish, trigger-pull and balance of my old High standard; I have just bought a second one, a Model M Marksman, and considering how old it is , it looks like it was never fired. It has the great HS trigger, and balance, fit and finish that surpasses most everything that is built today; for a fraction of the cost.
 
If you like Ruger I would get the mark 4 for easy take down, but if you want a fun reliable plinker get a GSG 1911, reasonably accurate too!

I have heard that there are versions without detachable grip panels and some with. His had the detachable 1911 style grips. Maybe that version is nicer? I'm no expert on this platform. :). Maybe I was more focused on the awesomeness of the suppressor to notice much else
 
I have the MKIII 22/45 Target Model and it shoots very nice and reliably. The S&W M&P22 is also a fun good shooting pistol. There is not much available in the way of holsters for the Ruger though...

Browning 1911-22 is not really a target pistol, but it may well be the best quality all round .22 built today. I have fired one on a couple of occasions, and it just puts the bullets where you point it every time, and functions perfectly.
 
If you're looking for something cheap get the SW22 Victory.

The 617 is a really nice gun but is probably one of the most expensive suggestions here so far.
