22LR Pistol Recommendation Please !

All of the above are great for plinking - whatever feels best to you is the right handgun for you.
If you will be competing, I highly recommend a High standard. It has one of the best triggers.
 
I am a bit old school and really like the quality of the older model guns. For me I enjoy shooting my High Standard Supermatic Trophy and Sharpshooter. Also my Belgium made Browning Challenger is one of my favourites. These guns function flawlessly for a very long time
 
Leaning towards the victory after looking at revision, also for those who wonder the mark iv 22/45 has a polymer frame and the victory has a metal one.. for a cheaper price but I prefer blued guns haha

Another Ruger fan here... If I was starting out I'd go for the MkIV.... I have a MkII 5.5" bull barrel, MkIII 22/45 4.5" slab side barrel & MkIII 22/45 lite.... all great .22 pistols! I also have a Beretta M71 I'm fond of, too.

I had a Ruger MK IV Standard and still have a SIG P226 22LR.

I thought the purpose-built Ruger MK IV would be more reliable but it ended-up being a little less reliable than my SIG P226 22LR. Not significantly, but enough for me to take notice.

Faced with a choice between the two, I would opt for the SIG. Plus you'll have the option of getting a Caliber X-Change kit down the line and convert your pistol to shoot 9mm, .357 SIG or .40 S&W should you want to.

i looked at all of the new stuff available, and nothing, and truly I mean nothing even came close to the fit and feel of my old High Standard Sportsman from the 70's. I wanted a better target pistol and either their fit, their trigger, or their accuracy sucked big time when compared to my old pistol. I found a High Standard target pistol in like new condition for $450.00 so I jumped on it.

Everything is either polymer or aloy or both. Even Ruger has it's issues.

Anyone has tried the Ruger Mark III Target vs the Mark IV 22/45 bull barrel ?

I can have either at same price but as you know the IV has the push button fast takedown and better trigger.. but then the target version is all metal unlike the 22/45 polymer frame.

Another thing I heard is people hate the loaded indicator on the Mark 3 but I think its not in the MarkIV now..

I like my Ruger's, great fit and finish, I have a Ruger Mk VI Hunter and a Ruger GP100 22lr revolver, both are 10 shots and both are great fun.

The GP100 is built like a Brick S##t House and will never wear out or fail. Just my humble opinion.

Both will shoot fine. Where you'll be wanting a MKIV is for disassembly and cleaning. Do some research on MKII and MKIII disassembly, that should convince you you want a MKIV.

I'm shooting the MKIV 22/45 Tactical. It has the bull barrel and some extra rails. Some people complain about the plastic lower, yes it is plastic, but all the moving parts are in the upper and they're all very nicely machined steel. No issues there. Sure it could be heavier with a metal lower, but how heavy do you need a .22 pistol to be?
 
i have a GSG1911(with upgrades)& a browning buckmark UDX+ , shoot them both regularly , the Browning is way more accurate, its the one i let new shooters use, cause we all wanna knock the s%$t outta the bullseye
 
Any recommendations for little-handed shooters? (MY kids, I mean, haha!) I'll be teaching them to shoot soon, and probably on the guns I buy in the next day or so.


The GSG's are priced great, but I saw one in Cabelas today, and they seem almost full-sized, no?

Probably the Ruger mrk IV, of whichever type. They seem to be coming in at around $500. (Wanstalls has a great sale on, atm. Which helps). I suppose all the Rugers are more or less the same size, with a bit of difference in the weights?
I think the Ruger mrkIV 22/45 lite for the win. Smallish, easy to maintain and the price is great for the quality you get.

Trying to 'buy for the future' like this is ridiculous. I guess we'll know soon enough, just how Full-retard the Liberals decide to go.
