What's the best crimp for shotgun slugs. Was looking into roll crimping but can't find the tool anywhere in Canada. Is there any other way or should I keep looking for a roll crimper.

Look into the Lyman slug. Looks like a big air gun pellet. Fits into a regular shot wad and uses a folded crimp. Data is in Lyman #5 shotshell manual. Three deer so far. Farest shot was at 90 m. They work well. You can use a regular shotshell press to reload.

it's not really a "what's best" situation but rather what crimp does the slug and load data call for. Generally, Foster type take a roll crimp and Lyman (skirt / airgun pellet) take a fold crimp - at least based on the Lyman, BP and older manuals I've found, The LEE drive key being and exception.

It all depends on the equipment you have on hand or are willing to buy and how much pounding you want to take on your shoulder to find what your gun(s) like.

I've got the lee mold. Seen them done with the roll crimps so I'll try that out

Their slug is supposed to be the most accurate one for rifled barrels according to shotgunworld.com slug section a great site to check out if this is road you are taking.
