Norinco standard sights

Am I correct with how these sights work:

and so on, is the top sight 1000 yard shots and 100 yards down for each number, 900 yards, 800 yards etc.

Now is the --3-- line under the 100 mark 30 yards? so a few notches under it and the rifle is sighted for 20 yard?

The setting closest to you is the battlesight setting, believe it is 300m. As the slide goes foreward, the range drops, then increases again.

Ok so how does the battlesight work? I was taking shots 150m+ out and they were nice dead on shots then i would shoot at something a little less out and it was still on, enough to hit a target.

The notch can go under the -3- mark, is that the start of the battlesight setting? and as it goes up it drops till it hits 100m?
