Hi guys,

I'm really, really, really, new to this. I purchased my first AR last week. LE6920 No furniture. This is only my second firearm, next to my scorpion.
What would your recommendations be? or if you had to build it yourself what would you get?,
  • Hand guard
  • Stock
  • Grip
  • Trigger guard
  • Mags
  • Scope
  • Sights
  • What else do I need to complete it?

PS not a fan of the triangle sight on the AR

Thanks guys. This is a great community, and i'm honoured to be part of it.

Handguard would be alg handguard. The stock would be .agpul str. The grip would be the k2+. Trigger guard would e flared trigger guard of some sort. Sights. Anywhere between an aimpoint or acog. Irons mbus pro... or skip irons entirely.

I'm in the exact same boat. Mine will just get Magpul nothing fancy keeping it basic and clean. Debating on hand guard. I got the model with no front site post.

For stocks and handgrips I really like the Daniel Defense factory furniture, mine are all rattle free and the rubber overmold is grippy. Wolverine only inventories the sets with the integral trigger guard on the pistol grip but they can also be had from DD without the integral trigger guard. Wolverine quoted me on a set configured that way. As for magazines anything goes, I like variety there. Irunguns can bring up the 5/32 DD magazines, Lancers or C-Products aluminum or stainless mags.

For glass there are lots of nice 1-4 and 1-6 units, your budget will focus you there. I have a Vortex Viper on mine that I really like.

Mine just got: magpul moe grip, magpul str stock, magpul trigger guard, ALG trigger, raptor charging handle, aimpoint comp m4s, yankee hill folding sight post and finally a knights m4 ras rail. Loving it!

I love the Ergo Deluxe grips, magpul aluminum trigger guard, mlok handguard. I bought a 6920-oem2 got a call a week later from the store saying North Silva sold more of those then they had.

I thought I got screwed over and was gonna get a little angry but then they told they would make it right and would upgrade me into a 6920-fbi version. Got the shipping notice today so looks like it worked out in the end

ACE ARFX buttstock

Magpul K grip

A free float forend that doesn't chew up the hands or have tiny male genitalia stamped into it.

MFT Minimalist stock, low profile gas block, Fortis full length handguard, raptor charging handle and geissele 3gun trigger

Slap on it an eotech red dot and a 3x magnifier and we are now twins

This is how I’m running my 6921. Weights in at 7lbs 4oz fully dressed (no mags) and shoots like a dream

Wow lots of great ideas floating through my head right now.
So far, I'm thinking about a full length free float handguard.
Now what's the deal with Mlok and keymod? are accessories readily available for both types?
BTW keymod looks weird to me.
Maybe when I get it done i'll post a pic here.

look through the AR picture threads to get some ideas on what you like

I was able to complete mine today from the random bargain bin by the front door at SFRC haha. Some unknown used stock and an NEA guard. Good enough to get shooting Friday!

Gives me time to decide on what I really want.

Just my opinion and I usually have different needs and philosophies than must (and I'm in a different legal ecosystem), but I'd probably go similar to elements of both my first AR and "Mod Briefcase"--note, this is not a range toy but a Serious Social Work build. Is this a shaved gas block or full FSB? (My list assumes full fixed FSB.)

*Midwest MI-20XG2 or Centurion C4 Cutout handguard (these have slots for an FSB, similar to a Block I RIS-II) with a Lasermax Uni-Max laser mounted in front of the front sight
*Survivor Systems Professional or FAB Defense GL-MAG stock with mag carrier
*FAB Defense MG20 foregrip mag-carrier (there as a carrier, not an FG) behind FAB PTK angled foregrip
*Right-side rail gets a FAB VTS thumbrest with a tailcap-controlled light in front of it; left gets a CAA MPS mag-carrier--if you're gonna stick me with neutereds that make Klinton Klips look like belt-feed, I want a LOT of 'em readily accessible! In this case, if we assume you guys are stuck with 5, might as well go with 5/10 pinneds rather than 5/30's, which trims weight and allows you to mount another reload or two. (I'm left-handed; for you non-southpaws reverse the sides.) Neat thing about the "PTK below/VTS at side" combo is that if properly spaced and set up they give you a really tight lockup joining the gun to your support hand.

I've attempted to "Canadianize" this to fit you guys' mag and storage restrictions; if I were building this down here in the US it'd be rocking three Magpul D60's full of Federal T3 (the "FBI load") or IMI Razorcore Mk 262 in the stock, VFG and magwell. Optics I'm not getting into mainly because my eyes are so bad that without my glasses they might as well be empty sockets in my skull, and I've needed to specially select hardware around that.

I like that setup for the most part, ALG trigger is not necessary, but is awesome too add if you want.
