Does anyone have any experience with a ported "Deer Slayer" barrel.
Two rows of small oblong holes just behind the from sight.
The row closest to the sight has six ports and below that but offset slightly are five ports.
That arrangement is repeated on the other side.
Looks professionally done.

If it's a Remington marked barrel I expect it was sent to Magnaport for the work. IIRC Mossberg make or made a ported slug barrel for Remington 870s. Is the barrel in the op a smoothbore?

After numerous attempts to get photos through to Remington this was their reply:

The porting may have been factory on that model but it may have also been an aftermarket option, it is hard to tell.

In essence they can neither confirm nor deny!

It is definitely a Remington barrel.

Tested with one shot at 50 yards and it printed inside the outer edge of a 3" disc at 1:00 o'clock.
Recoil was definitely reduced.
Also fired one SSG at 25 yards and accounted for 11 of the 12.
Fired two trap loads and it would appear to be acceptable.
