I was at the range early today and noticed a newer shooter with her STI 40 having problems. After initially looking at it, I noticed that the live round in the gun would not go into battery.

She was using Blazer 180grn FMJ

From initial examination, I noticed the rim of the factory round looked tapered. Also that it was wider than normal, this was why the gone was not locking up properly.

Lucky it did not go into battery, or the result would have been interesting.

This is a prime example to look at your ammo when loading the magazines

Too bad.Seems most of the ammunition companies are looking at ways to cut corners and the quality of their products are going down.

I won't run blazer 9mm anymore. I know 2 guys who blew up glocks with it. Turns out crimping is too expensive a process for cci these days, the bullets were setting back into the case just sitting in the box).

I know many other people who's guns just won't feed this ammo reliably. But other brands workno issues

One shell out of how many rounds ? Sounds like a epidemic .I don't use the stuff personally I have a buddy that shoots a ton of it and does well by it.. The brass seems to be of a lesser quality for reloading in my IMHO

I would have forwarded off a photo of the two rounds side by side to CCI and see what they have to say . it seems production has been more important than quality for many years now . I notice that in my line of work also .
