ive been kicking the m14 tires lately of course norinco popped up. i started to do a litttle research on them and seems like on all the new m305s the bolts are MIM, so are these norincos even worth the hassle
anymore? should i just save for a springfield m1a.

Cheers

Do a visual inspection and you can avoid the hassle.

More often you end up doing the same amount of work on a Springfield as you do a Norinco, so if you find one without the MiM bolt, all the better.

What lerch641 said, find the right one in the EE... I love my 2007 Marstar Norinco M14 and the tweaks I did on it.

That being said, a Springfield would be nice ESPECIALLY if you got a deal on the EE...

Cheers
Jay

I echo the sentiments of looking for a pre 2009, tweak it as needed, swap out the oprod spring and spring guide , Peen barrel and epoxy the oprod guide, install a USGI flash hider after peening the splines to get a nice snug fit, pull the trigger a couple thousand times outta the rifle and lube up the pins, springs and trigger hooks and shoot it!!

I have both m305 and springfield m1a loaded. I used my norinco to learn how to remove / replace parts. After a bunch of time spent on the norinco, I ended up getting a loaded m1a and placed her in a black feather build. I have to say that if you dont have a lathe or proper tools to do this, it wont be possible as a DIY. Will have to get a gunsmith to do it.

Thanks for the info guys,

ended up with a springer from reliable got a decent price on it! now im just trying to find some mags is there any difference between norinco and kci for quality. i wanted to grab some mags fron corwin but their all sold out so I'm thinking these are the only options that are left.

Hope you are not saying you need a gunsmith or a lathe to install a Blackfeather stock because that would be totally incorrect. I've done a number of these installations and nothing is needed except common shop tools. You can find the install instructions online....dead easy and straight forward.

The recent marstar mags have non-spec followers that don't always work with the BHO.

When buying Norinco mags, I look for un-rivetted mags with elongated follower legs, they all seem to work. Some of these are tack welded at the floorplate, which is unsightly, but does not affect function.

I rebuilt some of the recent Marstar mags I got with floorplates and follower off 5 rd Checkmate mags and they were much improved, but they are also a bit wider than milspec and are tight in some guns.

Older Norinco mags = the best deal in Canada.

How can Intell th difference between a new and an older Norinco M14?
My buddy just bought a Springfield, but unfortunately that is not in my budget.
Thanks.

The serial # on the receiver will include the date of manufacture.

Not a real expert .... I only play one on tv ;) .... A real expert would be able to tel you the Sn Range and years imported

Markings--- I could be wrong

My interpretation

Gen 1 has who imported them
Gen 2 has no date & no import markings
Gen 3 has a Date
Gen 4 Lets call MIN bolts ........ Dots /casting marks on the bottom of the bolt ???? and year imported These are the latest ones
Gen 5 lets call these the 7.62x39

Gen 1 and 2 need minor tweaking

gen 3 and 4 could range from great to what's wrong now

Gen 5 7.62x39 not enough Data
