Hello all,

I had purchased the Armaspec SRS 308 from CSC for use in my Stag 10. During installation it was found that the bolt cannot be fully retracted (about 3/4 inch forward) to engage the bolt catch. I phoned CSC and the person tried one in their Stag 10 on the shelf and he said it works so now I am stumped.

I am using the following parts:
Stock - Magpul UBR Gen 2 (spacer installed)
Bolt - Toolcraft .308
Barrel - Faxon .308 (Don't know if this matters)

The buffer system is Carbine length and it measures about 3 5/8 inches fully compressed. It is the same length as the one I purchased for my AR15 with a UBR Gen 2 and works fine. I can retract the bolt fully WITHOUT the Magpul spacer however the buffer system is loose in the tube.

Am I missing something here? Has anyone encountered this problem? How can I fix this issue?

Thank you in advance for any wisdom and help.

Do you have a picture of it? I just got some info the other day from Armaspec and the only difference between some models is the length of the bumper at the back, .308 having the shortest one to work with the longer .308 BCG's. They told me the .308 version should have a .5" thick bumper

Looks like you solved it for me. Here are the 2 that I got. Looks like they put a Carbine H buffer system in a 308 package. Time to call CSC, thanks!

LOL the reason I Emailed them is because everyone is sold out of the .308 in Canada and tell me it could be months before they get more.

They do however have the BB version in stock, that has the same 5.7oz weight that the .308 version does. So I Emaild asking what the difference was between them, hoping it would be something small I could modify

And it is, the only difference between the BB and .308 is the BB has a 1.25" long bumper and the .308 only .5" long. So I ordered the BB and will be turning down the 1.25" BB bumper to .5" making it a .308 version

Yours look like old stock maybe? Are they not engraved on the back of the bumpers?

I don't know if I got the new or old style, the spacer definitely looks different. The ones I got doesn't even indicate as to which systems they are that's why it was hard to figure out. Thanks again for the picture!

Here are the ones I received. It also looks like I got the cheaper black Nitrile O-rings instead of the brown Viton O-rings.

PS. What's the "BB" SRS?

BB is big bore version for .458 socom .450 and .50 Beowulf it has the same 5.7oz weight as the .308 just a longer bumper. I believe it’s a newer model and more rare calibers so not all shops would bring it in. It’s on Armaspec site and I got
mine for $95 from Calgary shooting centre

Ah seen. I got mine from CSC too but Armaspec put the wrong SRS in the pack! CSC is taking care of me but now I might have to wait for a while for them to come in. It'll be interesting to see what kinda bumper you get with yours. I think maybe the SRS is such a hot item that Armaspec "streamlined" the manufacturing a bit.

Same here I’m thinking maybe the cheaper $95 price compared to other shops charging $125 may be due to old stock. And that’s why you got the older Oring and no engraving of the part number on the bumpers. I should have it delivered next week sometime

My SRS came in today, and it was in the original Armaspec package and was sealed with a staple. Its marked correctly on the package and looks to have never been opened. So I think I got what I ordred

It is however the same as yours, black rubber Oring, laser etched not engraved bumper that doesn't state the model or weight on the actual parts anywhere

Not to interrupt but can someone explain the benefits of these things? Threw a normal rifle length buffer kit from ArmsEast in my Stag 10 build and I’m wondering what difference these would make.

Can make the rifle operate smoother, with less twang from the normal springs inside the buffer tube as they scrape the inside of the buffer tube

I run a JP silent captured setup in my 9mm AR and it made it run way smoother

Oh wells. At least you got the right one eh?

Yes the back bumper is 1.25" long like Armaspec said it should be for the BB version, and when I compress beside a standard .308 buffer its .75" longer. So if I turn down the back bumper from 1.25" to .5" it will compress to the same length as a standard .308 buffer
