Not on this site but was going to do a trade for the scope until I ran the serial number at Leupold.

The serial number is 503088AB. As soon as I stated the number the guy told me it was fake and looks like a lot out there.

518227AA also fake. Got screwed at the Durham Ontario gun show this past weekend. It looks to be a perfect copy. Only thing that made me call to check was that I couldn’t find anywhere that a VX3 4.5-14x50 was ever made with the mil dot reticle. It is amazingly bright and clear and finish is superb. Nothing to lose now so I guess I will mount it on a rifle and give it a try. Maybe do a range report after. Beware people, the fella at leupold I just spoke with said they are virtually impossible to tell apart without calling in the serial number. They are even copying real numbers now he said and mine was on a list of known counterfeit numbers. Does anyone have any experience with these or know if they are worth mounting or just toss it?

I'd imagine a low recoil ker-pow shouldn't hert the aliazz scope?

Jeesh, the times we live in with clonz dizz, clonzs datt………………...aye?

I don’t know. I’ve read some posts of people saying the copies are as good or better than the original. Really pissed at myself for getting screwed like that. I’ve only ever saw one other fake and it was so obviously fake, there was no need to call it in. I wish leupold had been open Saturday when I called and I’d have drove back to Durham and caused a scene. I may at the next gun show in the area if I find the fella. Maybe he didn’t know either.

Does Leupold have an online web service that you can check serial numbers or do you have to phone it in?

One area the fakes could differ is the internal mechanics of the turrets ... there would be no way to tell except to take the scope apart.

And the most important part. The quality of the glass and coatings

That’s the part that was impressive. For being fake, it is unbelievable how clear and bright it is. Will it stand up, who knows? For my sake I hope it does but I have my doubts. I put the fake beside a vx1 3-9 and a vx1 4-12 and it makes those two that have been verified real, look to be not as sharp or as bright.

If the price reflected the fact it was not authentic, I would not mind trying one on a 22 so my rimfire optic could more closely match the centerfires. How much is one of these?

Have a close look, most if not all fakes I've seen have the magnification ring opposite of the real Leupolds. Clockwise turns up the magnification on the real deal.

lol
I think these counterfeit scopes are made to look as real as possible so they can sell them as the real deal for close to full price.
Honestly, I wouldn't touch one of these with a ten foot pole even if you gave it to me.
