Fake Leupold Vx3i 4.5-14x50

The last one that I helped ID as fake, I knew as soon as he said, "ILLUMINATED, RED/GREEN". The scope in question looks a LOT better.

I guess someday they will be so good that Leupold will perform warranty work on them?
 
i could be wrong but i don't thing VX-III's hade the L medallion on the side. I thought they came out on the newer model VX-3 and the rest of the lines.......... i'd have to look at some of the ones laying around here at home.
i have a leupold ultimate slam 3-9×40 with an upside down L medallion on it, confirmed legit by korth but they wanted me to pay shipping to send it in to replace the tube. so it's stayed just like that............
when i said i don't think i should have to pay shipping for a cosmetic issue that had nothing to do with me, the answer i got from "the tech in the back" was "it's not my fault either". i was a little pissed at that responce.

The real problem is that Red China supports the illegal manufacture and sale of counterfeit products. They have no rule of law.
 
First thing I caught was the lll instead of VX3 on the gold ring?

iirc the Vari-X series were marked with Roman numerals , II , III

and then the change to VX- series dropped that and were marked 1, 2, 3, 3i etc ?
 
I have a fake one too, bought it cheap and knowing it to be fake.

If anyone has a real one one and wants to compare with some pictures or a short youtube video to compare feel free to let me know, Im in Calgary but happy to help set something up to help people identify a cheap clone.

My fake scope is on a 17WSM, the glass is not bad, it has held zero from the limited use, but the illuminated reticle only works on red and not on green anymore.

These are usable for a sub $100 rimfire plinker stinker.

The first VX's after the Vari-X series had roman numerals too. On the side was marked Leupold. The next VX's have numerals which then was marked on the side with a golden L
 
Came across a website that sells “cool stuff” for like 93% off. It had all kinds of Leupold scopes on there for insane prices. Almost got me too but seemed too good to be true. Seemed to be only Leupold too.
