Ok,

so I just got these ASC LAR 15 10/20 'crimped' mags from IRG... Tried them all in my MP15 and x95 to see how they'd work (or not).

Gist of the results:

All mags can load 10 rounds (tight as fk though)

They easily lock in the MP15 (easy means either sliding in without extra force, or a gentle tap).
They lock in on a closed bolt when loaded to 10 rounds in the MP15.

They DO NOT easily load in my x95 on a closed bolt (i have to rack them in with a medium-hard tap).
They easily load in my x95 when mags are empty (open or closed bolt).

They freefall when released from the MP15
One of them does not freefall when released from the x95 (this particular is likely 'out of spec')

No issues cycling dummy rounds in either gun though.

Hope this helps anyone looking to acquire these (when they are available!)

load 9 223/556 then put in a 7.62x39 and smash into your gun. Will pinch the crimp just enough to allow a 10 load of 223/556 to lock in on a closed bolt.

lol.. that actually sounds like it would work! :) Now I have to find a x39 round...

I emailed ASC complaining about it. They said that was the first complaint they had.

That really doesnt surprise me as most end users probably complained to the point of sale, and the POS didn't forward these complaints...

Move it up one spot on the rail and I bet the scope would be ahead of the muzzle. Sort of like an upside-down shortie 870 with a +3.
