In that case, old oil can and does harden up or at least go gummy. But I assume you know this.

It also attracts and holds burnt powder, dust, dirt and bits of plastic/brass. I degrease and drain out all action parts before I spray in the oil. Make sure everything is dry also,

Some guys habitually spray oil on all parts each and every time they use their guns without taking apart, cleaning and/or letting it dry out. Easy to get a buildup of old gummy contaminated oil when you’re doing that,

Did you try calling Stoeger Canada? I had an issue with mt SBE 2, a few emails back and fourth and they talked me through what to do/check. Since the issue has only ever happened 2 times out of thousands of rounds and dozens of calls. Its worth calling them.... Also installing a Wolf spring kit in your gun could help as well!

So long story short, my trusted sbe2 has become a bolt action jam o' matic. When a shot is fired the spent shell will eject but the bolt will stick back instead of moving forward and taking the new round off the lifter. A quick tap of either the charging handle or light press on the bottom of the lifter will send the bolt forward. The mag tube spring has lots of compression, I have replaced the lifter spring and recoil spring. Can someone who has experience remedying an issue similar to this provide any insight into my issue?

Are you running a Sure Cycle system in your SBE2? I had a something similar with my SBE1 (I run Sure Cycles on both my SBE1 and SBE2). I used a heat gun on the recoil spring tube to make it easier to pop the threaded end plug. Unfortunately I used too much heat and melted a rubber plug/stopper inside the recoil spring tube and had to get a replacement from Sure Cycle and that fixed my issue. It’s been 10+ years since I’ve pulled apart a factory Benelli recoil spring tube and assembly so I can’t remember if they use a similar rubber stopper or not. Otherwise I’d recommend giving a thorough cleaning all around and try again. If that doesn’t work I’d contact Stoeger Canada.

Does the gun do the same thing with hunting loads??

I have shot Benelli's for 25 years. I shoot them dry, too much lube is a very bad thing.
