50,000+ WW2 cartridge cases in one pit!

I spent some time diving in the Solomon islands. At some islands that were former supply depots everything from tanks, fighter, 105 cannons, jeep, millions of rds of ammo carpeting the bottom. Many trucks still has intact glass . Doing night-dives was a surreal experience.
At another location was an intact US dauntless dive bomber upside down with a 1000 lb bomb with the arming propeller still on the front of the bomb. Some on a put a little sign saying not to rotate it or boom.

An old mechanic I used to work with told me that his job, for about a year, after the end of WW2 was standing at a bandsaw cutting Snap-On tools in half. Apparently the contract between Snap-On and the government was for a good price but no re-sale allowed. When the barge was full of destroyed tools they'd tow it out to sea and dump it and then start working on filling it again (this was in Victoria).

That how Canada has always done it, buy products and then dump em so know one else can use them like that neighbor who always put out furniture and electronics in the rain.
Imagine if Canada re-approached the industrial capacity it had back then.... we'd be the most developed richest country in the world but no, we are sadly a Banana republic.
