Is this RCBS Die Bent (Video)? Brand New...

Hey guys,

Just received delivery of a RCBS die set for my 6.5 Creedmoor. Box is perfect, opened it up (had to cut the sticker - it had never been opened before) and the resizing die PIN appeared to be closer to one side of the die than the other? I loosened the nut, spun the pin and it was wobbling side to side. Take a look at this video.

I'm new to reloading, but pretty sure this isn't right....

 
I’m going to return the die set. Ordered from Amazon and they make the process beyond simple. New dies on the way.

I`d take it back if you bought it locally or email wherever you ordered it from if purchased online

Locally should just replace it, online might do the same or send you a new pin

Thanks for the help! Amazon has a simple return/replace program. New set on the way. I have until Aug 30th to return the damaged set free of charge. :)
 
One of the biggest causes of bullet runout is caused if the expander is bent or locked down off center.

Below I replaced all my RCBS expanders with Forster high mounted floating expanders and spindle units.

In a Forster die the neck of the case is held and centered in the die when the expander enters the case neck.

Another cheaper option is using a Lee sizing die, the expander is held and centered in the locking collet. And the average reloader can't go wrong with Lee dies and spending less.

I don't lock the expander ball down on rcbs dies. Leave it a bit loose so it wil find its own center. I don't break very many decapping pins so it must be finding center fine. On the way out, it will be more easily centered to expand if it's not locked down.

How do you find the neck tension when you size without the expander?

I tried it and found the necks were undersized owing to the expander not being there to open them up a little to the correct size on their way out.

From memory the crappy thing was my expander must have been a little too big cos when I used it the bullets would pretty much drop into the case (almost zero neck tension)

Now I use a Redding body die and a Lee neck sizing die.
