I bought some dies to start reloading for my AR a few weeks ago and I have been processing some brass (FL size and deprime trim to 1.750 and chamfer inside and out) which has been fun but I am questioning if it is really worth it.

I can get 7LBs for surplus powder from Higginsons for $90 and some small rifle primers for $40 but I can't find bullets anywhere.... No one has any 55Gr that can be had in bulk. I want to get some FMJ BT either 55 or 62 but I can't find them. Higginsons, CRAFM, LeBaron, Wholesale Sports, P&D, Epps ect are all sold out of the bullets. Higginsons says there Hornady order that was supposed to be in end of July won't be comming because they are behind supply because of the war that is going on.

I've enjoyed reloading 9MM but with prices of ammo I am thinking of ditching my semi autos and moving on to a bolt action so I would shoot less.

Epps is out because I bought their last ones... 600 Hornady 68gr...

Sorry..

at $21 / 100 I didn't find it much of a bargain either... :(

I bought some 62 fmjbt at the gun show last weekend for $15 / 100, I thought it was a great deal...

BTW, anyone have some load data for 62gr? :D

We in the states are having the same problems. All of production is either going into training ammo or going to the "great sand box". I made a hedge buy when I could find pulled 223 - 55's last year and picked up 6000 for $30/k. Ever since 2 weeks after I received my shipment, the company I got them from has been "sold out". Surplus bullets are not going to come back onto the market until our people come back from where they are now. It's going to take a while to build up that surplus again.

WSS is now selling 55 gr. fmj's (Win.) for $9.90 a bag of 100 at their Kamloops location. I ordered 1, 000 of them 3 weeks ago and they are supposed to be here next week. Even trying to find heavier bullets like the Hornady 68 gr. HPBT or Sierra 69 gr. is getting harder.

Was there not a fellow who sold SS 109's through CGN in large lots? Anyone know where he is and if he still sells them.

I've got 1-2K in the basement waiting to be mated to brass. I picked them up this spring from Higginson's. When they told me what their next batch price was giong to be, I stocked up on Hornady 68gr BTHP. and 4lbs of Varget. :D

.224 Bullets

They are all bringing peace and democracy to Iraq.So are all the small rifle primers, which are dear as gold here in N.W Alberta.Bad for the soldiers of Islam but the area coyotes are overjoyed.

Keep watching Canadian BDX. He has Montana Gold .224 55g FMJ's coming in early Sept hopefully:ar15:. He will post pricing when they are in country. Unbelievable how components have skyrocketed..Who do these manufacturers think they are, Oil companies:bangHead:??
