Have a friend looking for a short barrel 12ga to strap to his hunting pack for bear defense so I've been hunting for a 14" mossberg 590 or Rem 870 for him. There are some factory models outfitted this way on both websites. All of them in Canada seem to be out of stock and even the EE deals I've seen state that they are no longer being imported. Can someone shed some light onto why? Legal OAL shotties with short barrels, no less legal than than the DA grizzly which went as short as 8.5. I'm confused. I see the purpose and market for them still but no supply. Did I miss something?

Dlask Arms has barrels and shotguns as does Canada Ammo I imagine.

Short of it is we used to be able to bring 14” barrels in from the states and now we can’t. It’s an export issue not import issue.

I recently tried to import two 14” 870 barrels and they were denied export from the US...

They're available, but supply is a bit thin due to US export restrictions and they're very popular. In the US these are NFA controlled items, similar to suppressors and machine guns. There are some complete 14 inch Mossberg guns kicking around right now (expensive - locally about $800), but due to Mossberg's design the conversion to 14 inch is a kit and I haven't seen one for a while. There are occasionally 14 inch Remington barrels and the 870's design makes the conversion as simple as installing a new barrel. The same rules apply for these as surplus ammo, "when you see it cheap, stack it deep". If your buddy is totally stuck, send me a PM and I'll see what I can do.

Thanks guys. I get the barrels are available, was more curious about the factory firearms going the way of the dodo for supply. Export issue explains it all. I thought maybe there was an issue with our side.

The Dlask ones are heavy and very thick. Sometimes you have to sand the forend because of rubbing the barrel. The genuine Remington barrels work every time.

Well as we paid alot more for 14 inch bbls We have in stock now thene one we got almost 3yrs ago yes they are $299 as we paid $255 for them from our supplier I don't think selling them for $299 is unreasonable

Yeah but if you guys try to make a profit it'll cost more (I've heard this logic too many times, but I've only ever heard it in Canada)

f:P:

A guy I used to work with said it best "In Canada, profit is only dirty when you're talking about someone else making it."
