So for target shooting I have a Bladetech belt holster. The holster mounts in a way that in angles in so the gun points to my leg. I guess this may be good for carry so you can draw quicker.... But this is used for target shooting and I wonder if the holster should be so the gun mounts parallel to the leg in case the gun ever fires the round goes in the ground and not in the leg ?

I watched a few Jerry Miculek vids and he advocates holstering the gun with the barrel pointing away from the body for safety. Makes sense but cant do it when the holster points towards the body ..

I have seen some of his vids where his holster actually seems to point the gun away from the body.

Does this all matter? Is this a concern?

Disclaimer: I am experienced and have not had a ND or AD but sometime is always the first time ...

I think the main thing to consider is proper holstering technique. Before holstering with a live round in the chamber, work on your technique with an empty gun and you won't have to worry about a negligent discharge.

Quick answer: spacers/washers for the mount screws to square up the holster to your leg. Probably get a pack of them at home depot.

Yes I agree. Proper technique is key here. However unless there is a really good reason for the holster to point to the body, maybe its best not to point there :)

I was actually thinking of putting my 3D printer to work and print a nice OEM looking "de-angle" spacer !

Yup spacers are a must! The blade tech design is pure sh*t. In what world do you point a gun into your leg. You could also get a BOSS Hanger from the US, great stuff.

You might want to look at a drop and offset attachment. It provides more space between the holster and the body so you can point the firearm away from the body when holstering it.

Based on my experience with having a Bladetech with a DOH attachment I’m guessing that’s what the OP has on his holster, which he should be able to just remove. When I first got started in IPSC that’s what I had for my CZ and it pointed the gun at my leg.

The Blade-Tech Classic OWB is a great holster. In my experience, the DOH spacer tends to make the holster point toward my leg and to make the holster more floppy on the draw. The solution (for me) is easy; remove the DOH spacer.

Blade-tech has various levels of quality in their products. Properly fitted and adjusted they are perfectly acceptable
starter gear for action sports. Once you find a firearm that you are really comfortable shooting consider upgrading
to something custom. There's a company in BC that does a lot of competition holsters and mag pouches. I have a
few of their holsters and they are good quality products. Solely Canadian is the company. If you cannot find what
you want there, look at Red Hill Tactical's products or a CR Speed universal competition holster.

Thanks all for the advice!

To fix the issue, I 3D printed a 18 degree spacer that offsets the holster out and angles a tiny bit outwards away from the body. The piece in the pic is the prototype for visibility. The real one is black ABS.
