BCL 102 catastrophic failure

I loaded IMR 4064 as per "Modern Reloading 2nd edition by Richard Lee" USofA… There is nothing in the chamber. And if you see the pic I posted of the imploded case vrs the spent case you can see the lines of the neck. Something very strange happened here. Thanks for the feedback guys, I'm stumped

BCL might be very interested in studying your rifle.
No doubt they have tested specimens to destruction, but having a look at yours should be of value to them.
By all means get in touch with them. They might replace the rifle, simply on the basis of good customer relations.
I would suggest that falsifying a warranty claim, lying about the use of handloaded ammunition might be unwise.

I am the Global Warranty Manger for a 10K + employee company and I believe that honesty and integrity comes first. I will not lie to BCL but I will however demand to see their T&Cs that say using reloads voids warranty if we get that far...

Did you inspect, measure, pull the bullet and measure the powder weight of all unfired ammo?
I had a very scary call with reloads and the problem was an unreliable electronic powder scale.
The rifle survived but I crapped in my pants and later destroyed the scale.

Also all of the 6 or 7 rifle and pistol that I’ve see blown up where with (super hot) reloads.

That is assuming the bolt is rotated and locked in the first place.

Wrong. The bolt is already fully into the carrier when upon firing.

If the force is only on the bolt face, i;e: no gas flow through gas tube, the bolt will stay locked. The AR system is an internal piston, gas goes though gas key, enters boat tail/bolt carrier piston chamber, PUSHES the bolt towards the front (alleviates pressure on the lugs for the unlocking phase) and the bolt carrier towards the back, while the bolt carrier moves back the bolt's cam pin engages the cam pin slot in the carrier, forcing the bolt to rotate and unlock while the carrier is moving back.

Wow, base on the merit of your title alone, I do believe that you are a person of honesty and integrity! I can't believe that BCL hasn't stopped production to address the issue first and foremost. Placing you in front of the cue would be my priority if I ran the joint.

here's a good question, do you crimp the neck of your reloads? It's always possible that the Kaboom had nothing to do with the stove pipes and replacement bolt and may be an entirely different issue. IE feed ramp/magazine out of alignment. Could it be possible that the round that popped on you had the bullet pushed in as it was chambered?

Using handloads voids the warranty of every rifle far as I'm aware.

I'm pretty sure the manual is available online (they don't ship a printed copy with the rifle as far as I know), you should be able to find the info there

I had a look and it does say to use only clean high quality factory ammunition but I didn't see anything about handloads voiding the warranty.

with the disclosure here on the internet, BCL has enough information to void any warranty
I would stop posting about it and take it to a recognized gunsmith for a full inspection

In your first post, the second picture showing the receiver gouging, mine did that as well. It was caused by the $hitty firing pin retainer backing out of the bolt. I had other issues as well that kept me from firing more than 3 rounds with it though. They replaced my whole rifle. On the new one I pulled the pin and spread the tip before shooting it.

Apparently the contact for BCL is "support@blackcreeklabs.com".
Certainly worth contacting them.
As 45ACPKING has pointed out, there is lots of information about this incident in this thread. It would be surprising if they are not already aware of this mishap.

Where did you hear that?

I'm just surmising it. Haven't seen any new production AR15 parts on the market for quite some time. TDP for the 102 was sold to Troy. Badger was ruled restricted so probably won't see that as it has no market. They can't so much as answer emails in many cases for warranty.
