Mare-in-hear moose lure work for deer?

I came back from a September moose trip last year and had spilled some mare-in-heat moose juice in my day pack.

I had washed it, but it still stank.

Anyway, at the end of October I was tucked into a cosy little nook watching a deer trail in the interior, rattling antlers, tipping a doe bleat can and smelling like horse urine and a big mule deer buck walked into my sights.

I'm still wondering whether it was the rattling, the doe bleat, the moose juice, just putting myself in the right place at the right time or luck.

Maybe all of the above?

How do you think bucks respond to the mare in heat scent?

Deer respond to all sorts of urine. Sometimes I'll deliberately place urine away from a coyote set to help prevent deer from stepping in it. Trapping is a game of inches though and hunting one of acres. You could use your own and it wouldn't make any difference.

I've had bull moose respond to a buck grunt.Had WT,mule bucks and bull moose come to rattling.A doe is heat gutpile will still attract bucks as I've seen them run towards it with their nose to the ground zig-zagging like a bird dog.

A 'guru' down here one day took my Cuz out for a hunt, an started pissin all over a wallow saying it will entice a stag........ the trail camera showed the stag did not return for a looong time LOL

The UV an sun will burn off alot of Scent fairly easily after only a few degrees C so im not sure if it wasa good idea to piss all over the place in attempt to entice, this is talking Sambar, which are very swtiched on and not keen on change or unknown.. the human scent may of burnt off but the piss may not have for some time.

I remember watching Fred Trost on Michigan Outdoors in the 90’s. He did a test where he poured deer urine attractant, human urine after eating a big steak to simulate predator urine and Aqua Velva aftershave on a deer trail. With a camera set up, he filmed deer coming down the trail, sniff each spots and continue on their way without a care in the world. I don’t know if moose piss will attract deer, or vice versa, but I doubt it will scare them.

Like others I believe it may work on some bucks and others will be much more likely to avoid it. I don't have any mule deer experience but moose and whitetails can often be very curious in my experience, and males in the rut even more so. I have seen bull moose come to investigate a car alarm, had a young buck follow a female lab in heat and one of my personal favorites was when I had a very nice 8 point whitetail buck come into a duck call once. It was the Monday after deer season had closed.

At one time,I was really anal about not pissing anywhere near my deer stands, pissing in creeks when stillhunting, pissing in jugs in my tree stands.......nowadays I piss on the ground to make mock scrapes at my stands,
piss in real scrapes when I find them near my stands if I have it in me,and piss in the wind and just let’er fly from my tree stand whenever the need arises, lol
Try it.....wt bucks not only are not scared off by human piss, they will investigate and freshen up both mock and natural scrapes that you piss in.
Taking a dump is another story,I only drop a dookie near my buddie’s stands, lol

i have mature bucks on camera working mock scrapes that i pissed in,as well as many instances where i’ve pissed in natural scrapes and see tracks of big bucks working the scrape in the following days.
