Winchester USA Forged 9mm 115gr

Just tried some in my Norinco NP22 (Sig P226 clone). Will not extract reliably in a gun that otherwise works flawlessly. The manganese coating on the steel cases makes them very dusty and rough feeling. These are nothing at all like a typical lacquered steel case. These are more like they are parkerized, minus the oil. At most I could fire off two rounds before a failure to extract. After going through 10 rounds, I decided to quit before I damaged my extractor. Its also very hard to load into the magazines. The cases are so rough and dusty textured that I can only push 6 or 7 rounds into a magazine before it jams up tight.

I will find out what Cabelas return policy is soon. I see from the online reviews on Cabelas website, the majority of users give it the lowest rating possible, only 1 star.

I also filled out a complain on Winchesters web site. It will be interesting to see what their response is.

I tried 2 boxes, and was enough for me. Hard extraction and issues. I rather pay the 30.99 for 100rds of brass cased, then the 32.99 for 150rds of steel case.
 
Sounds like there is a pretty good group of users that find it problematic. Oh well, buyer beware. I should have read the reviews before buying any. I actually thought because it was a Winchester USA product it would be fine. It was slightly cheaper when you compare it to others not on sale. On sale, it was the best buy that day at Cabelas, so I went for it. I've since bought a 1000 rounds of Winchester white box brass cased 9mm, and that stuff is great. Never a problem.

Shop around, you should be able to find brass cased ammo for less $/round. I would not pay $0.30/round for steel cased 9mm.

You can find brass cased 9mm cases of 1000 for $250 fairly regularly.

Winchester is standing by their product. They have told me they will pay for Purolator Courier back to them of the ammo, and that they will pay for the courier, and reimburse me for the price of the ammo. I'd say that's about as good as it gets.
 
I have the odd failure to extract in my Norc 1911, my son had no issues with a S&W SD9. That said I will likely not buy any more of the steel cased stuff.

This^^^ The winchester steel case 9mm is more expensive than brass case 9mm at my LGS.
 
Works fine in my M&P , and also my Glock19 Canadian gen4.
I prefer to buy by the 1000, but when I run out and my budget is spent, I do use it.

Flaherty’s has it for $35+tax /150, and I have gone thru about 4 boxes with not one problem in the 2 aforementioned pistols.
 
I burned through 1500 rounds on my Glock 17 gen3. All good. No issues.

The ammo is dirty and the case not reloadable. I started reloading soon after. So I didn't buy more.

Darn! My NP29 hated that stuff too, similar issues as your NP22. My buddy's Gen3 G17 ate it no problem so I gave it to him. I wrote a bad review of it on Cabela's, I should have written to winchester too. oh well.
