I did a lot of testing with aftermarket barrels and springs. Long story short i don't believe they make a big difference unless you are hot rodding your loads way over max like many guys seem to insist on doing with the 10mm.

The cartridge provides plenty of power within its limits and the Glock was designed entirely from the ground up for the 10mm. It handles it just fine. Keep in mind that heavy recoil spring may slow down the slide going back but it also flings it forward that much harder.
 
My carry (had an atc) 10mm is a grand power running hardcast buffalo bore ammo..has been flawless at the range when I practice with it! Also likes the nickel remington UMC 10mm

Had a g20 on file as well for a bit, and prefered the gp over it

If I were to reactivate it due to work, I'd seriously consider getting a 1911 platform in 10mm... I liked mine in 460row but it was too long with the comp

I seem to be the outlier for that though.

Thanks again for the great advice. Anticipate using 220 g buffalo bore so sounds like the stock set up should handle those just fine. Any last advice prior to me ordering? After market sights? Getting excited. Thanks again!
 
Go to 10mm-firearms. com. Lots of good advice for the 10mm junky and many of those guys use their guns in the field. I hope that is your plan if you’ll be shooting buffalo bore at >$2/round!

The RIA guns are nice, though I would have gone Ruger had it been released prior to my buying.

I replaced my slide release, so that the slide would lock open with more than just the OEM brand of mag, otherwise was fine. Good enough gun that I don't feel like going through the trouble of selling it just to get the curb appeal of the Ruger.
 
The only 10mm that will not destroy itself over time shooting true 10mm is the Glock.

I own two 1006's and used to own a P220=10 SAO. They are very stout guns. Never owned a Glock, but my wife has a large collection of Tupperware, so I'm not unfamiliar with that Austrian platform. The Sig and S&Ws are all but indestructible.

I had a Gen 3.5 Glock 20 that had a lot of hard miles on it. Well over 40,000 full power loads plus all the .40 level target stuff I ran. Aside from the usual spring changes I only ever replaced a broken trigger pin. It had been broken for who knows how long and was still working fine when I replaced it.

I'm not saying other guns don't last, with a few exceptions. I would say only a small handful typically don't or won't, but if it weren't for losing the pistol in a house fire I have no doubt it would be chugging along with twice the round count, looking and shooting as good as ever.
 
And the Gen 4 with no added backstrap is the same as the Gen 3 SF I understand

then you of anyone should know.
the SF has the back of the grip reduced so the heft through the grip isnt as long.
im pretty sure it has nothing to do with side to side reduction.
in a nut shell the SF version eliminates a void behind the magazine.

I'm still a bit confused about differences between gen 4 standard and gen 4 sf. I see the sf is lighter over all... Does it also come with additional backstraps? Grip length is just as long? Sorry, i live in the north so am forced to order sight unseen.

The SF is Gen 3. The Gen 4 without an additional backstrap (i.e., in its smallest configuration), is the same size as the Gen 3 SF.
