I’m not that familiar with the No.5 Lee Enfield, but i find them a interesting part of the Lee Enfield series of rifles , curious if the No.5 was issued in different butt stock lengths , as the SMLE and No.4 rifles were ,

Thanks for all replies

Probably only made short stocks since they were designed as a lighter more compact paratroop rifle.

I have never fired a No.5 rifle, with a short butt stock , it must take some getting used to, plus the heavier recoil , though I talked to a Brit who served in Palestine after the war , he said they fired their No.5 rifle all the time , just wearing thin cotton army shirts ,

Yup; mine was uncomfortably short also. Made shooting it even more of pain.

That's why I sold mine to woodchopper, it was too short to use - I like to use them - and too nice to mess with, so I found it a good home.

I eventually replaced it with one which was un-restorable, (drilled and tapped for a TO-1 base and bayonet lug ground off.) With an ATI synthetic stock it fits me so I can shoot it well enough to hunt with it.
