Hey guys~sometimes...if I see something odd/inexpensive enough, I'm intrigued to the point where I make a bad decision to buy=just to test it out! :) This gun falls into that category. While I was aware of a new 410 single-shot/turkey, I didn't look into it for obvious reasons...but I did come across this YouTube video the other day, and it's an interesting gun. I've yet to hunt turkeys...I'm thinking more of a fun/odd gun...maybe fun for sitting grouse WAY up north, and the weight is certainly appealing. YES, Chinese... YES 410+turkey is odd... YES cheap.. YES there are better options.. Just wondering if this oddity has caught anyone else's eye, and if anyone has snagged one?

the Stevens 301 Turkey in 410 is designed and made to use the Federal TSS ammo (tungsten)
it produces great patterns to 40yds with said ammo
can't tell whether regular lead loads would fare as well but still, it is a great shotgun
 
Friend of mine in Georgia has been a dedicated turkey hunter for over 35 years. He uses nothing but .410's with TSS. His favorites are the Yildiz foldable. It's the lightweight aspect of the gun and using TSS handloads in #9, he gets a shot density at 40 yards and killing power that we are used to shooting our 12 gauges up here.

Had a hard time swallowing this statement until I clued in that those TSS turkey loads are #9 and we are using #5's and #6's in our 12 and 20 gauges. I strictly use #6 and haven't even considered trying the #7's since they've been allowed let alone #9 birdshot if it was legal to use here.

Sounds impressive until one remembers he has been hunting turkey with tss and the 410 for a max of one to two years since it wasn't available prior even less I am sure for handloading
Factory federals were first introduced at a shot show in january of 2018
I killed geese 40 years ago also with a 410 and lead so yes with the right conditions it will kill but IMO there are better options
