Where in this country can I buy barrel stock? I can't seem to find any suppliers. I'm looking to replace a revolver barrel. I have the literature, most of the tools, just need the barrel. S&W doesn't make the barrels for my gun anymore please don't ask me to refer to the manufacturer.

Just trying to keep a gun out of the scrap heap while I learn some new skills.

Image attached is what I'm going for. If you don't see pic, I need to figure out ImgShare better.

An old PPC gun? Why? It is virtually impossible to wear out a .38 Special. Looks good enough to bring six or seven hundred on EE. The rib alone is a two hundred dollar piece.
Colour me puzzled.

Didn't read that very well, did you? He's looking to make his 12(6) (presumably, considering the scrap heap comment) look like the gun pictured.

Ah, but he does not say that. Only that he wants to replace a S&W barrel. But I did miss the obtuse reference to the picture, my apologies. If really desperate I have an 18 inch piece of unknown manufacture .357 16 twist, and one inch diameter laying about in the shop.

Yeah guys, looking for barrel stock. The gun has pretty wide groupings from a vise. I want to put a new barrel on there while learning a new skill.

The actual gun isn't pictured, I just googled what I want to do with it.

Replacement barrels from manufacturer unavailable due to age

T&G : Were you looking to get rid of that barrel by chance?

Blastattack: Looking for 357/38spcl barrel stock. I can lathe it down and tap it myself.

Sorta doubt that, a wee bit, just based on that one sentence.

Trevj: got a local machine shop and smith down the road if I botch it. It's a cheap gun meant to learn on.

Lol! No.

Give the job to someone competent. It'll be cheaper for you in the long run.

But seriously. Anyone who is trying to be taken seriously, that describes the work needed as 'lathe it down and tap it', isn't going to be.
