I know this sounds like an oxymoron.... Red Ryder accuracy

I got one of my kids a Red Ryder for his B-day. (on sale $35)

Finally got to take it out yesterday. Prob put +200 bb's through it.

I was SHOCKED at how accurate it was. (for a cheap 300 fps BB gun)
I had expectations of it being a total piece of junk and about as accurate as me throwing a rock.

At 20 yards it was pop can can accurate 9/10

I don't know why i was expecting garbage, but its pretty darn good (AND LOADS OF FUN for everyone, me included)
 
That's pretty good.

Bass Pro in Dartmouth had a little 15 foot range set up for the kids the other day, I was able to keep 5 shots inside the size of a loonie with a Red Ryder - pretty good for a BB gun I agree! Wear your safety glasses and watch for ricochets - wouldn't want anybody to shoot their eye out!
 
I picked one up a few years back.. it is surprisingly accurate! Just be careful with the plastic lever... you can rip it right off if you get a bit overzealous... as I found out the hard way.
 
O.K. you asked, back in the day 1/2century ago, I would kill flies on the side of the house at about 15ft, got most of them, Mon was pissed at all the little dimples in the cedar siding.

sounds more accurate than mine but then again mine is rusty as the titanic and about 30 years old. i might have to pick a new one up just for giggles

I had a pump action version of the Daisy BB gun. Used it to roust the squirrels from where they were hiding in the tree, by bouncing a bunch of BBs through the branches around them.
As I recall, there were at least two different pump action (like a shotgun, not pump-up, like a Crosman Airgun) models, I had one that the slide was straight back and forth action, while the older style had a large lever that cammed out and bent in its middle, as the pump was worked.

Anyone who thinks a BB gun cannot be usefully accurate could do worse than to read about he Quick-Kill, and Quick-Skill training systems, as well as, IIRC, the Daisy Model 99 target guns.

i saw one in home alone when Kevin shoots the green army men, i always thought that was rigged up for the movie by cannibalizing a lever version but if they exist, i want one!

Look for a Buck Jones Model 107. Straight slide action, with compass, and a sundial on the stock! :)

The Model 25 is the other pump action model that has the weird breaking link when the slide is actuated. But the Model 25 is available again, new, supposedly.
