Buying a VZ.58, do I go 5.56 or 7.62x39

My VZ 58 in 5.56 is so accurate I can shoot a water bottle white cap in 100 yards no problem! Even tough I have a bad eye vision and I don’t wear glasses. I never have any issues yet even in -30 degrees temperatures. The reason I choose on 5.56 is because where I come from there is no x39 ammo and that sucks! I liked those full metal jackets with my sks before. One thing is for sure I can use the lar mags with my other gun and it is so compatible. I have a tan colour along with fab defence tan accessories and it is now wicked. Looks like a real warfare weapon but I don’t think zombies are coming soon ha ha.

Where the heck are you?
 
I've owned both v58s in 556 and x39, both worked good with reasonable accuracy, i'd go x39 if I was to buy another for ammo cost and its 30cal for hunting big game.
 
If you already have a stock of a few cases of x39 get that.
If not, get the 5.56.

The accuracy is in the nature of the round.
Bulk 5.56 is still better than bulk x39.

If you do get the 5.56, it is just as easy to spend the cash on a few more mags than it is to spend twice that amount on a mag conversion kit and then the mags too.
The original 5.56 mags look chunky but work very well.

I have both the 5.56 and the x39.
Both dependable and accurate enough for what I do.

Lots of accessories but if this is one of your first rifles, just get it and a crate of ammo and get used to it before you start throwing cash around trying to improve what you have no idea of what works or doesn't just yet.
 
I have owned quite a number of both. They all were plenty accurate - but the 7.62x39's were simply more reliable and I have always chalked that up to the fact that that is the cartridge that the gun was kinda designed for (I realize that 7.62x45 was once in the mix). The design of these rifles is fantastic and they are an underrated gun.
 
If it’s an indoor rifle it’s gonna be expensive in 7.62, outdoor it’d be cheap
If you buy it smart 223 isn’t bad usually cost bout 33-36 cents a round which isn’t bad

I got tierd of my VZ58 in 7.62 many times. I owned 3-4 now. I now own a .223 vz to replace the ar15 and vz. I like the feel of it over the AR, but its not as good with optic options. I would do .223 and keep you crates of 7.62.for the SKS.
 
Have any of you guys seen this the whole rear mount for a rear sight for a longer sight radius have any of you tried it out by chance?
