Saw it too, looks like a nice unit that uses the same upper and lower connecting groves (or whatever you'd call it). Hopefully they ditch the takedown bolt. I couldn't tell from the pictures.
Looked nice but looked expensive. Like more than $1000 expensive. AeroKnox.
Anybody know how it differs in function to the original one?
This one was built by Aeroknox, he is the one who does the majority of the machine work on the SLR uppers for MDI as well. His stuff is super nice, legit ex-aerospace guy, very interested to see how it all shakes out, these are all just rendered images right now. Very interested to see actual machined pictures of them.
Also not sure how bad the pricing will be, he had a very reasonable sale on his forends on the 4th, ($99.00 USD), so it will be really interesting to see how this all shakes out.
If not trying to mass produce a basic rifle for the cold war on 1950's manufacturing technology, you are correct. From a low volume machining standpoint, forged is a hassle. So much easier to just slapped in a block and let the machine do the work.Billet is best, change my mind..........
