Saskatchewan- court ruling on out of province native hunters

The difference is regular people need to buy a licence and can only shoot a limited amount of animals during a season for whatever specific tool they are using to hunt. First nations are complaining that the colonials are destroying their heritage and traditions while at the same time they think they are entitled to shoot anything they want from a 4x4 with spotlights day or night. That is not their heritage or tradition. They shouldn't even have horses because they weren't on this continent until the filthy colonials brought them here. Their rights should not allow them to travel all over the country to shoot out the animal populations as they are doing now. If they want to subsistence hunt as is their tradition fine, let them make their own bows from willow and gut, their own arrows from knapped stone and feathers. They should not be able to use modern weapons unless they are going to buy a licence just like everyone else.

100% agree and that was along the lines of what i was going to say.

Times have changed, people have moved on, and governments come and go. We cant let ourselves be stuck 150-200 years back in history. Lets all move on and abide by one law for all Canadians.

No need to put up signs. If a property owner see them on their land they can call the RCMP and have them removed and charged. What do you think is a better alternative? Allowing anyone to enter private property with no legal repercussion?
Bad things have already happened in Sask with natives driving into property they had no right to be on....that didn't go so well for the gangster Colten Bushie and his degenerate crew.

Property owners always had the right to have people removed if caught on their land, signs or not.

well...… if you want to go down that road, then ALL hunters should be using sticks and stones. What makes non native hunters so special that they get to use the tools of modern man.
Your argument simply has zero logic if your underlying train of thought is that we should all be "equal".

Modern hunters follow modern regulations. That's what.

Sweet.

Hopefully they'll come in and decimate the antelope population. Hell, invite the American Indians up.

Save us the grief of crossing our fingers for 2 months hoping to draw a tag.

I can't wait to retire and move out of this retarded, pussified POS country.

Hey will everyone just step back then ask yourself this question first before you start to judge our "First Nation" people? If you look at what I just put into quotes you will notice that they were here in North America FIRST (thus First Nations) before we as non natives forced them to into submission. Placing them on the worst lands in the nation and expecting them to survive. Which is hard to do as they were hunters gatherers and lived off what nature gave them and they believed in keeping everything in balance. Do some research on residential schools you'll be utterly shocked at what white men did to brake the FN spirits to comply with and restrictions put on who was allowed to leave the reserve and how long they were to be gone and the results of not returning on time. Once you have done your full research, rethink what your ideas of our FN people then you will need to apologize to them as well.
As far as I am concerned we need to apologize to each and every one of them for the way they have been mistreated since 1878 as sub humans. You certainly won't live that way then why should they!

Note: if you do any in depth research you will also find that with the government restriction in place, if they live off the reasurves they lose their status cards and are not allowed to participate in and government funding, grants or settlements dispersed.
And you think you have it hard, really?

If you think I am off base then ask any humanities professors in any university near you if what I said was true. I learned all this myself at the
University of Windsor.

No first nation person over 18 is forced to live on a reserve. They choose to.

Well for starters Natives certainly weren’t Nations as they lacked currency, borders, and common language. Also they weren’t even the first.

North American Native population was in the stone age before Europeans arrived. There’s been a few hiccups bringing a civilization into the modern world.

Sorry but the history doesn’t mean anything. My family has been here 4 to 10 generations. I get angry about Natives having special racial privileges. Maybe Natives should show appreciation for the increased quality of life thanks to the technology Europeans brought.

If they refused to leave the RCMP would charge them.

If they are on private property regardless of reason they can be "charged now" Sounds like a better deal doesnt it SKhunter???? Only people I can think of that would bother are criminals and poachers....they way some people like to whine about it on here and play thread games make me think they fir into one of those 2 types of low lifes.

All that money they get leaves the reserve as quick as it comes and goes back into the hands of people with a solid work ethic and some business smarts. The only money that stays is the sleeze ball chiefs cash who take full advantage of their people. Chiefs keep everyone drunk and violent then grandstand in the media that its everyone else's fault, especially the white man.

Nice try attempting to make this an anti-Liberal thread.

I'm not fond of the ass-kissing to big business Liberal party but Land claims negotiations, Supreme Court decisions, federal funding to FN people has been going on for a lot longer than JT has been around.

Or a landowner like me who didn't care if people hunted without asking. Now the government has decided that hunters must get permission to hunt my land even though I never required it. So do I still control my land or does the government?

This law will do nothing to stop criminals and poachers.

When I win the lottery, one of the first legal actions I will take is to ask for status rights, my family has been here in Canada for a couple hundred years and I identify as indigenous to this land.

I suppose if it gets too bothersome having to deal with hunters asking permission you could post your land: "Hunting permitted." Funny old world,eh?

Never said it would be bothersome. SARM cried that putting up signs was bothersome.

On the bright side for property owners this new private property rights law will eventually lead to pay for access.
